Portraits of Vietnamese players through the humorous eyes of Hoang Bach

Hoang Bach just shared his feelings about coach Park Hang-seo and the Vietnamese players right before the first leg of the AFF Cup 2018 final tonight (December 11).

“You come over for dinner, happily make yourself a latte, happily take a few more sips, then crawl into bed, eyes wide open, thinking about random things. Somehow, comparisons and similarities between the outstanding members of the Vietnam National Team and the male colleagues you have met and felt about keep appearing in your mind.

Of course, these are fun feelings, completely subjective and mostly come from love and respect for the two subjects that I often come into contact with or care about the most, players and artists, so if anyone is accidentally compared by me and feels that there is something unsatisfactory, please forgive me:

1. Anh Duc, old, talented, has maintained his peak performance over many years and is still shining. Certainly, the most suitable must be Mr. Dam Vinh Hung. The biggest impression about both of these people is probably their thinking ability, that is the reason, both Anh Duc and Mr. Dam, although not having many strong points in terms of technical factors, are always at the top and indispensable in their segment.

3. The third player, young, in good form and surprising to many people is Van Duc, even though he was picked up from the U23 team last year. I immediately thought of Erik, also very young, who had a great year after initial difficulties, the owner of this year's hits after being commented that it would be difficult to continue to have success just because his first hit "Sau tat ca" was too great.

4. Xuan Truong, when I think of Truong, I see the image of a talented but responsible romantic guy, quiet but sophisticated and influential. For the next generation of male artists, like me, that person in the art world in my eyes is Bang Kieu. Maybe he is not always in top form because he lives in 2 places and is not good at communication, similar to the image of Truong's form in this tournament. However, class is always class.

5. Quang Hai is definitely the brightest star of the AFF CUP so far, and for the current male artists, no one else but Son Tung MTP. Overcoming initial doubts, both Hai and Tung, talented young people, small but attractive, rebellious but charming and extremely-intelligent, are creating a new wave, a symbol for the young wave in the S-shaped country. Quang Hai knows how to dribble, Son Tung knows how to sing with vibrato; Quang Hai knows how to take free kicks, Son Tung knows how to compose; Quang Hai knows how to shoot from afar, Son Tung dances very beautifully.... Yes, they are talented; very versatile and are shining brightly on their own field, despite being very young.

6. One person who is not present at AFF2018 this time, but because of his talent, I cannot help but mention Tuan Anh. Similar to the HAGL player, Rocker Nguyen in my eyes is a handsome singer-actor, talented and has many opportunities for development (just a personal feeling because I don't remember meeting him yet), unfortunately like Tuan Anh, this younger brother is also absent due to injury, the only difference is that Tuan Anh has a leg injury, while Rocker Nguyen seems to be suffering from psychological trauma. However, I still believe and hope they will return.

7. Duc Huy, not the first choice in his position, but clearly, since playing more regularly, Huy has controlled the midfield of the Vietnam National Team very well and reassured his teammates with his dedication. Dedicated, enthusiastic and highly assured, in my eyes is the image of Quyen Linh, the special thing is that they look simple, smile a lot and have a lot of... hair.

8. Duy Manh, a guy from Hanoi FC with a charming, fair complexion and a charming gap tooth, looks gentle but is not gentle at all when it comes to football. I don't know why I keep thinking of Le Hieu and to some extent Su Bin Hoang Son, quite typical Hanoi boys, but in fact, I think of Hieu mostly because of his gap tooth and of Su Bin maybe because of the feeling of something fierce hidden behind the appearance, which I also vaguely feel in Manh.

9. Dinh Trong, responsible, enthusiastic, intelligent and law-abiding, especially very neat and tidy in his clothes. I feel there are many parts of Ha Anh Tuan here, especially in the fact that they have something in common, which is not noisy but very effective and civilized.

10. Que Ngoc Hai, the captain who wore the armband the most times on the field in this tournament. Tall, brave and experienced. I thought of Tuan Hung the most, instinctively, perhaps because of the common point in the storms they experienced and Hai's shiny hair tossed up, very similar to Tuan Hung in a certain poster; but most of me said, Hai was showing an admirable calmness after the incident and it seemed that Binh Minh was more suitable for this image, especially in terms of the similarity in shape and height between Minh and Hai.

11. Doan Van Hau, the youngest player of the national team, tall, enthusiastic and very brave, is a rare talent of Vietnamese football. I also considered putting Erik in this position, but I feel that Phan Van Duc's position is probably more suitable. For some reason, I can't really feel the freshness, innocence but rich expertise in the very young faces of my profession to put next to Hau without feeling awkward. Tran Thanh is probably suitable in terms of talent and creative and sometimes unrestrained playing-acting style, however, they are quite far apart in height and age, so I still don't really like this pair.

12. Trong Hoang, I see a part of Dai Nghia's image when looking at Hoang's playing style in this tournament. Like Nghia, Hoang has appeared and been highly appreciated for a long time, but it was not until this year that he really shined and held an important position like now. Both of them give me a feeling of maturity, enthusiasm and responsibility, sometimes their creativity also surprises those who think of them as too simple. On the other hand, if Quy Binh is put in this position, it is probably very suitable for their quiet style, meticulous work, hard work and especially... their slightly dark skin color.

13. Van Lam, a solid stopper, always calm and.... handsome. I thought that MC Phan Anh was completely suitable for this position until I remembered that my friend did not know how to play football. I remembered another person that I also admire, Lai Van Sam, who in my opinion is a master of certainty and calmness, and also speaks Russian very well. The only thing that bothers me in choosing him for the position corresponding to the goalkeeper of the Vietnam National Team, besides the huge difference in age and height, probably comes from the fact that he publicly declared himself a Liverpool fan...

14. Coach Park Hang Seo, I can only think of one person, Mr. Tuan Tha-So, who contributed greatly to the resounding success of Mr. Bo Dan Truong. Having had the opportunity to work with him a lot, I clearly felt the enthusiasm, decisiveness, high demands and sometimes a bit of a temper of the famous boss in the industry, it is almost no different from Mr. Park's style on the sidelines, not to mention the appearance and height of both people are quite similar.

The things I just listed above, as I said, are just for fun and are entirely subjective and based on love and respect, with very little logic. I believe that each of us often has such feelings and sometimes they pass by.

In the first leg of the 2018 AFF Cup final, Hoang Bach shared with the media that he and his wife planned to go to Malaysia to cheer for the Vietnamese team, but had to cancel at the last minute due to busy schedules.
