(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 2, Nghi Loc district held the launching ceremony of the National Action Month on Population 2015 with the theme "Community joins hands to care for the elderly".

Currently, the number of elderly people in Nghi Loc accounts for more than 10% of the total population of the district. Along with the whole country, the district's population is entering the aging stage, creating economic, cultural and social challenges. According to incomplete statistics, over 90% of the elderly in the district depend on their children and grandchildren; over 80% have no material savings, only 20% have pensions or subsidies from the state budget. The health care system for the elderly still has many limitations.

The District Population and Family Planning Center coordinated with the Health Stations of 30 communes and towns to organize health check-ups for the elderly, paying special attention to those in policy families and those in difficult circumstances.
