Just because of holding a Malabar spinach leaf, a woman had her thumb bitten off.
(Baonghean.vn) - Just because of a handful of Malabar spinach leaves, two women got into a fight, one of them had her thumb bitten off by the other.
The incident happened in hamlet 8A, Truong Nien village, Thanh Chi commune (Thanh Chuong) on the morning of May 11.
Relatives of Ms. Nguyen Thi Cong (58 years old) - the victim whose finger was bitten off said: on the morning of May 11, Ms. Cong went to Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat's house to play. When passing through the gate, she stopped to pick a handful of Malabar spinach leaves on the wall between Mr. Nhat's house and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh's house.

Because of the Malabar spinach picking incident, Ms. Cong and her neighbor Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh (about 50 years old) had an argument, which then led to a fight.
During the fight, when Ms. Cong hugged Ms. Thanh to prevent her from throwing rocks, Ms. Thanh bit off her right thumb.
Mr. Nguyen The Anh, Mrs. Cong's son, said: "When I heard my mother call and say that her hand was bitten by a neighbor, I immediately left work and went home, then with everyone else took my mother to the hospital. At first, my mother was still conscious, but when we got to the hospital, she fainted."

After taking Mrs. Cong to the hospital, Mr. Nguyen The Anh wrote a report of the incident and sent it to the Thanh Chi Commune People's Committee. Immediately after that, the Thanh Chi Commune Police and Thanh Chuong District Police arrived to resolve the incident.
The bitten off part of Mrs. Cong's finger was discovered by Mr. Tran Van Hoa, the village captain of Truong Nien village, at the place where the two women fought, and was kept by Mrs. Cong's youngest child in the family's refrigerator.
At Thanh Chuong District General Hospital, Ms. Cong had her thumb amputated and is receiving treatment.
