The lower temple of Bau Loi Temple was built in 1925 and restored in 1941. This is a special structure consisting of 2 parts. The main part is a 3-room, 4-rafter wooden house made of ironwood. The secondary part is the porch of this house, which is widened, raised, and built like a screen. The entire system of supports to lift the porch of the lower temple is replaced by long beams connecting to 6 pillars. The pillars are engraved with parallel sentences to form 3 main doors on the facade. Above, the details are elaborately built and decorated. Photo: Huy Thu |

Above, the front of the lower hall stands out with a majestic scroll with "two dragons facing the moon". In the middle of the scroll are three large Chinese characters made from ceramic pieces: "Thu - Thuy - Truong" with the meaning "Autumn water flows forever", affirming the longevity of the relic, corresponding to the parallel sentence inscribed at the temple "Thu Thuy Truong Luu, Than Linh Quang Nhat Nguyet/Lung Thon Dac Dia, Mieu Mao Vinh Son Ha". In addition to the scroll, other details on this screen are decorated with patterns and images of the four sacred animals, graceful and lively. In the photo: The beauty of the phoenix is embossed in the posture of spreading its wings. Photo: Huy Thu |

In particular, the 4 corners of this "huge" porch have embossed images of 4 carps, each with its own appearance, and each fish's mouth is a drainage trough. When it rains, water from the lower house will flow out through the fish's mouths. Photo: Huy Thu

On the left and right sides of the lower hall, there are two pillars built symmetrically. Although not massive, they more or less resemble the pillars of Nguyen Xi Temple. This unique architecture has given the lower hall a different beauty, both ancient and majestic. Photo: Huy Thu |

Along with the ancient architecture, the temple also preserves many valuable artifacts and documents such as ancient prayers in Chinese characters, stone steles, horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences, etc. In particular, in front of the temple yard, there are two ancient phoenix trees that are over a hundred years old. With a long history, ancient architecture and beautiful landscape, Bau Loi Temple is one of the attractive destinations for tourists when exploring Cua Lo. Photo: Huy Thu |
