Proactively responding to storm No. 5: Cua Lo Ward evacuates more than 2,500 people to safety

Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 5, the authorities of Cua Lo ward (Nghe An) mobilized all their forces to urgently evacuate more than 2,500 people to safety, while ensuring the anchoring of boats and absolutely not allowing people to stay at sea and in cages and rafts.

According to the plan, the entire ward has 380 households, with 2,508 people, that must be evacuated. On the morning of August 25, the ward authorities went to each house to mobilize and bring people to safe places such as Nghi Tan Kindergarten, Nghi Thuy Primary School, hotels and solid high-rise buildings. Thực tế, trong ngày 25/8, 20 ngư dân quê Quảng Ngãi vẫn cố ở lại trên tàu dù được khuyến cáo nhiều lần. Lực lượng chức năng đã cưỡng chế, đưa họ lên bờ trú ẩn, đồng thời kiểm tra, gia cố phương án neo đậu tàu thuyền tại bến cá Nghi Thủy. Đến nay, 260 tàu thuyền trên địa bàn đã neo đậu an toàn; các hộ dân có lồng bè cũng đã ký cam kết không ở lại trong bão.
