In early May, soldiers of Tam Hop Border Guard Station (Tuong Duong) and teachers in charge of the 5-year-old class at Tam Hop Kindergarten organized a swimming class, drowning prevention skills, and injury prevention for 24 children.
Mr. Vu Chong Lau, a parent living in Pha Lom village, whose child is attending the class, said: "In the summer, all the adults go to the fields, in the village there are only children and the elderly, no one to take care of the children, so teaching swimming and escape skills in case of an accident is extremely necessary."
"In Tam Hop commune, there are many streams and creeks, flash floods often occur when there is unusually heavy rain. Teaching children to swim and escape skills will be very helpful for them. Especially for 5-year-old children in mountainous areas who often go to streams to cool off on summer days, leading to many tragic drowning incidents. We hope that this activity will take place regularly for the children here" - Ms. Tran Thi Huong, teacher in charge of the 5-year-old class at Pha Lom school said.

In addition to teaching swimming, drowning prevention skills and injury prevention, for the first time, 5-year-old preschool children in the most difficult villages of Tam Hop border commune also participated in many interesting and meaningful experiential activities.
The children were able to visit the rice fields with their teachers and mothers, and hear about the hardships and difficulties involved in growing rice, which helped them love the fields more, appreciate the bowls of rice they eat more, and do small things to help their parents reduce some of their hardships and worries.
Besides, the children also got to visit Sang Le forest, Co stream, Van temple... to broaden their knowledge, love and be more proud of their homeland.

“Mountainous students, especially those in remote border areas, still face many difficulties in life and study. Teachers proactively creating extracurricular activities and creating opportunities for students to experience is a meaningful and practical activity.
In particular, we appreciate the significant contributions of the Border Guard soldiers in the area who have had many initiatives to coordinate with the Education sector, to jointly complete the goal of socializing education in this difficult area," said Mr. Kha Van Lap - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Tuong Duong district.
