US government withdraws lawsuit against Bolton's book criticizing Trump
The administration of US President Joe Biden has dropped a Donald Trump-era lawsuit against former national security adviser John Bolton, according to court documents.
The prosecution, represented by the Justice Department, and the defense, represented by Mr. Bolton's lawyers, have asked the court to close the case, with each side agreeing to pay its own legal costs.
Since there is no litigating party, the acceptance of the request and closing of the case becomes a formality.
Trump once declared: Bolton's book is "a mixture of lies and fiction".

The Trump administration had previously tried to block the release of Bolton's book through the courts. The court refused to block the book's publication on the grounds that it was sold out at the time of the request, but raised the possibility that Bolton could be held liable for disclosing classified information. The book, which came out in June 2020, features Bolton's strong criticism of Trump. The lawsuit continues despite the book's release.
The Trump administration claims the book contains classified information and that Bolton did not agree with the administration about its contents. Bolton says there is no classified information in the book. He says he agreed to four rounds of editing with the White House, but the administration still asked him to remove unflattering statements about Trump from the book.
