The Nam Can border market used to be held once a month, located deep inside Laos, 3km from the border. In recent years, with the increase in cultural exchange and trade between the two border communes of Vietnam and Laos, the market has been expanded and moved to a location near the Nam Can International Border Gate, close to the Vietnam - Laos border. At the same time, the market is held more frequently, every Sunday.
However, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, this unique market had to stop operating since March 2020.
