After seeing her husband come home late at night drunk and even chasing and attacking her, Dung grabbed a knife and stabbed him. Dung's fatal stab took the life of the man she had once shared her life with.

On October 15th, the Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened the trial of defendant Nguyen Thi Dung (born in 1967), residing in Chau Loc commune, Quy Hop district, on the charge of murder. The victim in the case was the defendant's husband, Mr. Sam Van Q. (born in 1964).

According to the indictment, on the afternoon of June 22, 2024, Mr. Sam Van Q. took his lawnmower to be repaired, but he had not returned by evening. Therefore, when Dung called him at dinnertime, her husband said the work was not finished yet.

After dinner, Dung called her husband several times, but Mr. Q. replied that he was busy and hadn't come home yet. At 11 PM that same day, Dung heard Mr. Q.'s motorbike and knew her husband had returned. However, due to joint pain, Dung couldn't get up.

At this point, Mr. Q. went into the bathroom and said he was drunk, asking to have the light turned on. When he saw his wife, Mr. Q. reproached her for not caring about him.

Afterward, the couple had an argument. Mr. Q chased after his wife, kicking her twice in the leg, causing Ms. Dung to fall to the ground next to the well.

Dung stood up and saw a knife, so she picked it up and said, "Come in, come in." Mr. Q replied, "Do whatever you want," and then approached his wife.

When her husband approached her, Dung stabbed him twice with a knife, causing him to collapse. After stabbing her husband, Dung shouted for help and people came to take Mr. Q to the hospital. However, the victim died from circulatory and acute respiratory failure due to the wounds puncturing his heart and lungs.

At the trial, the defendant admitted to the crime as charged in the indictment. She stated that she lost control of her actions because her husband was drunk and chased after her. She expressed remorse and asked the court to consider mitigating circumstances.

The panel of judges noted that in this case, the defendant had mitigating circumstances to consider, such as honest confession, remorse, surrender, partial compensation for damages, and a request for leniency from the victim's legal representative. Therefore, the court sentenced Nguyen Thi Dung to 8 years in prison for murder.
