Husband kills wife, takes 8-month-old daughter hostage, barricades himself in house
The heartless husband used a weapon to kill his wife and then held his 8-month-old daughter hostage, barricading himself in the house… It took many hours for the police to successfully rescue the hostage and bring her out safely.
The incident occurred in the early morning of September 5 at a house in Hamlet 1A, Binh Hung Commune, Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City. The suspect was identified as Nguyen Van Hien, the victim’s husband.
Accordingly, at around 0:05 on September 5, Hien and his wife had a conflict and then a fight. In a fit of rage, Hien used a weapon to hit his wife in the head, causing her to collapse on the spot and die shortly thereafter.
Hearing the couple's arguing, many people knocked on the door again, but at this time Hien had locked the door and was holding her child in the house.
Upon receiving the news, Binh Chanh District Police surrounded the house and approached to persuade the suspect.
Due to the complexity of the situation, elite forces from the Mobile Police Regiment - Ho Chi Minh City Police were also mobilized to the scene.

Hien hugged her 8-month-old daughter, poured gasoline all over the house, and intended to set herself on fire. The police tried to persuade her but failed.
At around 5:30 a.m. the same day, more than 5 hours after the incident, Hien gradually calmed down and agreed to take her daughter outside. As soon as she got outside, Hien used a knife to attempt suicide but was quickly subdued by the police. Hien only suffered minor injuries and was taken to the emergency room.

The 8-month-old daughter showed signs of gasoline suffocation and is being examined and given special treatment at the hospital.
It is known that Hien and his wife are well-off in the area and have little contact with neighbors.
Currently, the case is being investigated by Binh Chanh District Police to clarify the cause of the case.
