Formosa Chairman Sends Letter to Employees About Fish Death Investigation Results

In a letter to Formosa Ha Tinh employees, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of this corporation said that the mass fish deaths in the central provinces were due to "subcontractor errors" and committed to keeping the factory operating "under any circumstances".

Before the cause of the recent fish deaths in the Central provinces was announced by the Vietnamese Government this afternoon (June 30), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Formosa Group (Taiwan) - Tran Nguyen Thanh just sent a letter to all employees of Formosa Ha Tinh (FHS) about this issue.

Formosa's leadership bowed and apologized to the Vietnamese people for their inappropriate statements at the time of the incident.

In the letter, the leader said that according to the investigation results of the Inspection Team chaired by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam, the phenomenon of mass fish deaths in 4 central provinces was due to errors caused by subcontractors during the company's trial operation. "Although this is an undesirable result, the company respects the results of the Government's investigation," the letter said.

Formosa's chairman also said that the company is working with the authorities to resolve and overcome the consequences of the above incident. "In any situation, the company will continue to keep the factory operating, putting the safety and interests of all employees first, and striving for sustainable and long-term development in Vietnam," he wrote.

According to VnExpress sources, on the morning of June 30, the above letter was read in full by department heads to employees working at Formosa Ha Tinh. In this letter, the head of Formosa did not forget to acknowledge the contributions of Formosa Ha Tinh Company's staff since its early days of operation.
