On the afternoon of May 13, Mr. Luong Minh Thong - Secretary of the Muong Lat District Party Committee, Thanh Hoa confirmed that the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of the provincial police had just arrested Mr. Vi Dinh Thuong (49 years old, Chairman of the Fatherland Front of Muong Ly commune) and his wife for illegally transporting two cakes of heroin.
Initial information from Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, at 6:00 p.m. on May 12, on National Highway 15C in Trung Son Commune, Quan Hoa District, Thanh Hoa, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of the Provincial Police caught Mr. Vi Dinh Thuong and his wife, Ms. Vi Thi Eu (46 years old, former Vice President of the Women's Union of Muong Ly Commune, currently residing in Nang 1 Village, Muong Ly Commune) illegally transporting drugs for sale.
At the scene, police confiscated from Mr. Thuong and his wife two cakes of heroin, a motorbike, a cell phone and many other exhibits related to drug trafficking.
Working with the police, Mr. Thuong and his wife confessed that due to heavy debt, they went to Van Ho district, Son La province to buy drugs to bring back to Thanh Hoa to sell for profit.
Mr. Luong Minh Thong - Secretary of Muong Lat District Party Committee added that the Standing Committee of Muong Lat District Party Committee is waiting for an official announcement about the above incident from Thanh Hoa Provincial Police to carry out procedures to suspend Party activities and suspend the position of Mr. Vi Dinh Thuong.
The Drug Crime Investigation Department of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police is continuing to investigate and expand the case.
