President attends the ceremony to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ton Duc Thang
President Vo Van Thuong and leaders and former leaders of the Party and State attended the ceremony to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ton Duc Thang (August 20, 1888 - August 20, 2023).
The ceremony to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ton Duc Thang took place on the evening of August 19, at Trung Nu Vuong Square, Long Xuyen city, An Giang province.
Reading the commemorative speech at the ceremony, Mr. Le Hong Quang - Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee reviewed the revolutionary life and great contributions of President Ton Duc Thang to the country.
The Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee emphasized that at the age of 92, President Ton Duc Thang had 70 years of revolutionary activities. He had made great contributions to the Vietnamese revolution, the international communist and workers' movements, and contributed to fostering friendship among nations around the world.
During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: "President Ton Duc Thang was an exemplary person with revolutionary ethics, a lifelong person of diligence, thrift, integrity and uprightness; a lifetime devoted to serving the revolution and the people."
The Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee said that the Party Committee and people of An Giang inherit and promote the nation's fine traditions; follow the example of President Ton Duc Thang, always unite and strive to fulfill the set goals and tasks, contributing to the successful implementation of the Party's glorious revolutionary cause.
“In recent years, although the world and domestic situation has encountered many difficulties and challenges due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and other objective influences, with political determination, solidarity and unity within the entire Party, and the unanimous support of the people, An Giang's economic growth rate has been maintained, restored and developed; per capita income has increased annually.
“Culture and society have changed positively; national target programs on sustainable poverty reduction, care for ethnic minorities and new rural construction have been well implemented. The health sector has received attention, with facilities ensuring the requirements for medical examination and treatment for the people. Cultural values have been preserved and promoted,” said An Giang Provincial Party Secretary Le Hong Quang.
