President sends congratulatory letter on 76th anniversary of Traditional Day of Natural Disaster Prevention and Control
On the occasion of the 76th anniversary of Vietnam's Traditional Day of Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (May 22, 1946 - May 22, 2022), President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a letter of congratulations and affection to compatriots and soldiers nationwide, and forces working in natural disaster prevention and control.
In the letter, the President stated that our country is one of the countries most severely affected by extreme weather phenomena globally. Due to its geographical location, Vietnam's history of construction and development has always been closely linked to the frequent, arduous and difficult task of controlling water and fighting floods. However, the process of conquering and adapting to nature has fostered the qualities of solidarity, mutual love, mutual assistance, and the will to be self-reliant and self-reliant to overcome all difficulties of our people.

The President emphasized that climate change and rising global temperatures have caused unusual and extreme weather events with increasing frequency, creating greater challenges for all levels, sectors, cadres, soldiers, and people nationwide in forecasting, early warning, response, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters; however, proactive prevention and support for people in disaster-stricken areas and victims have achieved many important results.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President warmly commends, respects and expresses gratitude to the brave examples who sacrificed themselves to save people and protect people's lives and property; the noble acts of helping people in disaster-stricken areas, along with the great efforts and contributions of all compatriots at home and abroad, comrades and soldiers nationwide who have stood side by side with the forces to prevent and combat natural disasters in recent years.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc called on and requested the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, local Party committees and authorities, sectors, units and all people, cadres and soldiers nationwide to continue to raise their vigilance, sense of responsibility, proactively and seriously develop plans and solutions for natural disaster prevention and control, rescue and relief, integrate them with socio-economic development plans, ensure security and order in the area, and minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
Along with that, the organization coordinates closely and rhythmically among forces, especially in the operation of reservoirs on river systems in the Central and Central Highlands regions; responds and handles all natural disasters promptly and effectively, contributing to protecting the peaceful and happy lives of the people and the sustainable development of the country.
