President Tran Dai Quang meets with Prime Minister Li Keqiang

President Tran Dai Quang asked Prime Minister Li Keqiang to continue directing the implementation of a number of measures to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries.

Within the framework of his State visit to China and attendance at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, on the afternoon of May 12, at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, President Tran Dai Quang met with Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang.

At the meeting, President Tran Dai Quang congratulated China on its achievements in comprehensive reform since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, especially in transforming the development model, stabilizing the macro-economy, maintaining a high growth rate, and continuously improving people's lives.

The President expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping as the core and under the direction of Prime Minister Li Keqiang, the Chinese Government and people will successfully implement the set socio-economic development goals and tasks.

President Tran Dai Quang emphasized that in the context of the current complicated world situation, strengthening and enhancing the increasingly good Vietnam-China friendly and cooperative relationship is an objective requirement, in line with the fundamental and long-term interests of the people of the two countries, beneficial to peace, stability and development of the region and the world; strengthening cooperation in various fields between the two countries is of great significance to the development cause of each country, not only bringing economic benefits but also making an important contribution to strengthening trust and friendship between the people of the two countries.

The President asked Prime Minister Li Keqiang to continue to pay attention to directing and effectively implementing a number of measures to expand and improve the quality and effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries.

Regarding trade, the President expressed his hope that Chinese ministries, branches and localities would soon complete legal procedures to open the market for milk and dairy products, fruits, seafood and pork from Vietnam; continue to create favorable conditions for large enterprises of the two countries to increase trade and agricultural products, especially rice and cassava; and emphasized that the two sides' increased agricultural trade not only contributes to promoting healthy and sustainable growth of bilateral trade, but is also a meaningful and practical work for Vietnamese farmers.

Regarding investment, the President welcomed further promotion of the role of the Infrastructure Cooperation Working Group, promoting large investment projects that represent China's strength and development level and are suitable to Vietnam's needs and sustainable development strategy, especially in the fields of high-tech agriculture, supporting industries, renewable energy development, clean energy; combining investment cooperation with technology transfer, and developing high-quality human resources. At the same time, he urged businesses on both sides to quickly resolve existing problems and obstacles in cooperation projects between the two countries.

Regarding financial and monetary cooperation, the President proposed that China provide Vietnam with more preferential credits and facilitate Vietnam's access to preferential credit sources within the framework of ASEAN - China and Mekong - Lancang. The two sides should promote cooperation in the fields of agriculture, environment, science and technology, focusing on cooperation in responding to climate change, sustainable use of Mekong - Lancang water resources, and breeding rice varieties suitable for drought and saltwater intrusion conditions in Vietnam.

Propose that the two sides strengthen cooperation in science and technology, ensure nuclear radiation safety, including information on monitoring and warning systems, and handle nuclear incidents; promote mutually beneficial cooperation between localities of the two countries in the fields of economy, trade, tourism, border management, ensure legitimate rights of seasonal workers in border areas; continue to promote the opening and upgrading of border gates, apply measures to facilitate customs clearance, cooperate in fighting and preventing crimes, maintain security and order in border areas; maintain a peaceful and stable environment for cooperation and development between the two countries.

The President expressed his belief that, along with the positive development momentum of bilateral relations, mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields will progress even more positively, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, contributing to the continued healthy and stable development of Vietnam-China relations in the long term.

On this occasion, President Tran Dai Quang conveyed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's invitation to Prime Minister Li Keqiang to visit Vietnam again at an appropriate time.

Premier Li Keqiang warmly welcomed President Tran Dai Quang and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on their state visit to China; affirmed that the Party, Government and people of China attach great importance to the friendly neighborly relations and comprehensive cooperation between China and Vietnam.

Believing that the stable development of the two countries is an opportunity for each other, China has always attached importance to Vietnam's concerns, has strengthened measures to expand the import of agricultural products and rice from Vietnam, improved the trade balance, created more favorable conditions for the implementation of preferential credits, and actively responded to Vietnam's request for sustainable use of cross-border water resources.

Premier Li Keqiang expressed his approval and appreciation for President Tran Dai Quang's opinion on strengthening strategic exchanges, directing all levels and sectors to seriously implement the high-level common perception, actively deploying measures to promote cooperation areas between the two countries in the coming time, contributing to promoting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam to develop stably, healthily and sustainably. Premier Li Keqiang expressed his gratitude and happily accepted the invitation to visit Vietnam again./.
