MANY POSITIVE RESULTS

Congratulating the Department of Tourism on the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam's tourism industry, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, on behalf of the provincial leaders, acknowledged and commended the achievements that Nghe An tourism industry has achieved in the past time.

According to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with the 60-year development of Vietnam's tourism industry, Nghe An's tourism industry has 25 years of formation and development. Although the time is not long, Nghe An tourism has been on the map of Vietnam's tourism. The fact that Nghe An is among the very few localities that have established a Department of Tourism demonstrates its important role in the overall tourism industry of the country.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung assessed that in recent times, Nghe An tourism has had some remarkable achievements. The sector has advised the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee on many contents to implement the Central Resolution to make tourism a spearhead economic sector.

Attracting investment in tourism infrastructure in recent times has achieved basic results, a number of projects of large corporations have invested in Nghe An. The basic infrastructure meets the requirements, as evidenced by the fact that the whole province has more than 20,000 rooms, 3 5-star hotels, 7 4-star hotels, 20 3-star hotels. At the same time, travel businesses operating in the area are quite active, including a number of large businesses.

The province's tourism products are gradually diversified, suitable to the characteristics of Nghe An, such as sea tourism, cultural and historical tourism, and eco-tourism.

The tourism industry has also done a good job of promoting with an increasingly wide space, gradually building the tourism brand of Nghe An. Human resources are increasingly improved, well appreciated by tourists and locals. From there, creating the image of Nghe An as a friendly and hospitable destination.

Tourism cooperation activities have had positive results in promoting, recovering and stimulating tourism, especially when the Covid-19 pandemic has been basically controlled in Vietnam. State management work has been carried out seriously, effectively and with high quality.

SOON BECOME A Pivotal ECONOMIC SECTOR

However, according to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, although the average annual growth rate of Nghe An tourism industry is over 10%, revenue increases by approximately 18-20%, the number of tourists to Nghe An is still modest, especially foreign tourists.

In the coming time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that the tourism sector should develop a development strategy for the sector until 2030, with a vision to 2050, and integrate it into the province's general development plan, and include it in the Resolution of the 19th Party Congress. From there, there will be a plan for implementation in the coming period, soon becoming a key economic sector.

Besides, increase investment in developing tourism infrastructure, especially large-scale and higher quality facilities because the current facilities in the province are still modest.

"There must be big brands investing in the province to improve the quality and value of tourism in Nghe An" - said the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

The industry also needs to strengthen cooperation to create a chain of links within the province, within the North Central region, with businesses and organizations to create diverse tourism products, connect tours, and fully exploit potential advantages. Strengthen state management in the area, in the direction of promoting development, not banning if you cannot manage.

Concerned about Nghe An tourism brand, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung said that the industry must pay attention to training human resources, because to build a quality brand, those working in tourism must ensure requirements, create entertainment spots that are truly touristic, and retain tourists.

“Nghe An’s potential to attract tourists in the coming period will be good, when we increase investment attraction. When investors come, they will create an environment, create vibrant economic activities, then the tourism industry will have the opportunity to develop.”

2020 is the most difficult year for the tourism industry due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, but comrade Nguyen Duc Trung still highly appreciated the efforts and initial solutions to restore tourism activities of the industry. From there, the overall socio-economic development results of the province this year have the mark of the tourism industry.

“The Provincial People's Committee is determined not to adjust the growth target but to make maximum efforts to achieve the highest target. Therefore, the tourism industry must also go along with this viewpoint, must make efforts to achieve the highest growth target, contributing to the overall economic growth of the province” - the head of the Provincial People's Committee requested.

Reporting to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Director of the Department of Tourism said that the number of tourists in the first 6 months of the year in Nghe An reached 620 thousand, an increase of 258% compared to the previous year. From that, it can be seen that Nghe An tourism industry has recovered spectacularly.

On behalf of Nghe An Tourism, the Director of the Department of Tourism expressed his full acceptance of the direction of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and promised to implement solutions in the coming time to develop Nghe An tourism better and better, soon becoming a key economic sector, contributing more worthily to the overall development of the province.
