On the morning of September 5, Dang Thai Mai Secondary School (Vinh City) held the Opening Ceremony of the 2020-2021 school year. Attending the Opening Ceremony were comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders of the Department of Education and Training, Department of Finance, Department of Home Affairs, and Vinh City People's Committee.

Dang Thai Mai Secondary School currently has more than 1,300 students with 31 classes and 57 staff members. The school was established in 1978, formerly the Literature and Mathematics Gifted Class, then Vinh Gifted School. Since its establishment, the school has always carried out the task of discovering and nurturing the cultural talents of secondary school students in Vinh City.

In the 2019-2020 school year, the school's overall quality maintained its leading position with outstanding high-level transfer exam scores in the whole province. More than 50% of grade 9 students passed the entrance exam to specialized schools in and outside the province, of which 41% passed the entrance exam to Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

The spearhead quality continues to achieve many high achievements not only in the province but also at the national level. Last school year, the school had more than 50 former students achieving national excellent student awards, many of whom won Gold and Silver medals in international competitions. Along with improving the quality of teaching, comprehensive education is always a focus of the school.

In her opening speech, Ms. Ha Le Hoa Binh - Principal of the school said that the 2020 - 2021 school year is the second year that Dang Thai Mai Secondary School has implemented the construction of aHigh quality key schoolof Nghe An province.

For Dang Thai Mai Secondary School, promoting the tradition and achievements, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung requested teachers to perform their duties well, increasingly improve the quality of teaching and learning, both inheriting the tradition but also approaching new methods and new ways in the current information explosion era. Assessing Nghe An as having a tradition of studiousness and excellent education, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also said that mass education is still at the national average. The Education sector needs to look at this issue to find ways to improve the quality of mass education in the future.

Regarding the goal of building Dang Thai Mai Secondary School into a high-quality key school of the province, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung said that this is a legitimate need and goal. To achieve that goal, the Education sector and Vinh City People's Committee will research and advise the Provincial People's Committee on appropriate and effective policies and solutions.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Education and Training of the province and the People's Committee of Vinh City to study the recommendations of the Board of Directors of Dang Thai Mai Secondary School to advise the Provincial People's Committee to resolve them in accordance with regulations, in the spirit of supporting the school to continue to develop.
