Focus on collecting rare documents and artifacts
Nghe An province is currently preserving and conserving 17,464 artifacts, 6,671 valuable documents and images, and over 1,000 animal and plant specimens and samples.
In Nghe An, the collection of rare documents and artifacts is not commensurate with the potential of local natural and social conditions; there is a situation where many rare documents and artifacts are being managed and preserved by local people or have not been collected and preserved in a timely manner, leading to damage, degradation and failure to promote their value, even loss.

The main reason is that the collection of rare documents and artifacts has not received due attention; the locality has not yet researched and developed a comprehensive scientific collection outline to serve as a basis for scientific and methodical collection work that accurately reflects the natural and social conditions of Nghe An province.
Up to now, the collected tangible and intangible cultural heritage values of the province are not sufficient to build collections and collections of artifacts for display to promote heritage values. There is a situation where the facilities and storage facilities of the Museum are seriously degraded, many equipment serving preservation work are damaged and cannot be used.

To overcome the above situation, Nghe An province is setting a goal of preserving and collecting about 30,000 documents and artifacts by 2020, of which 90% of documents and artifacts are inventoried with scientific records and specific histories; 100% of documents and artifacts are preserved and displayed using modern means and equipment.
The province also researches the construction, installation and application of information technology, using digital software and networking for museum operations, meeting national standards on cultural heritage management and museum operations.
Nghe An continues to promote, encourage and mobilize people to contribute artifacts and documents to the museum; organize surveys and collect documents and artifacts; deploy museum staff to survey, visit and study at museums and archives centers to exchange artifacts and documents. In addition, the province will also organize research, field surveys, and develop detailed plans to deploy the collection of documents and artifacts.
