(Baonghean.vn) - Difficulty in recruiting students for pedagogical majors, unreasonable structure of teachers for some majors... are the problems that have caused many difficulties in the activities of Nghe An Pedagogical College in recent years.

This was also the main content discussed the most at the working session between the Provincial People's Committee and school leaders on the afternoon of April 14.

According to the report of the College of Education, from 2014 to now, the school's enrollment results have always decreased. In 2016 alone, the enrollment rate only reached 59.46% (993/1670 targets). Among them, there are majors such as Office Administration and Geography Education that have not recruited students for three consecutive years.

The operation process shows that although the school's organizational structure has a clear hierarchy, it is not reasonable and cumbersome. Currently, there are majors that do not have enough lecturers to teach, but there are also majors that have a surplus of lecturers and not enough jobs.

From this reality, at the working session, the school leaders proposed that the Provincial People's Committee allow the school to mobilize all resources to build and develop the school into a key, high-quality college, and then upgrade the school to Nghe An Pedagogical University.

In addition, it is recommended that the Department of Education and Training include it in the planning network, striving to have a Pedagogical Practice School in the period 2020 - 2025. In the immediate future, the existing Training and Development Center will be developed into a Training and Development Center for Professional and Soft Skills.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Thong highly appreciated the efforts of the school in the past time, especially in stabilizing the organization, perfecting the apparatus, and developing operational plans. However, he also frankly pointed out the school's limitations such as not being proactive in foreign affairs, joint ventures, and partnerships.

Regarding the school's plans in the coming time, he said that the school needs to consider carefully. At this time, the task of upgrading the school to a university should not be considered, but it should be focused on improving the quality of training, stabilizing the staff, and recruiting work. In the process of establishing the centers, he requested that the school develop a project and a specific implementation roadmap. He also assigned the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Education and Training, and related departments, branches and sectors to coordinate to support the school in implementing, soon upgrading and expanding the second facility into a Training Center - Professional Development and Soft Skills.

In addition, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the school to proactively improve the qualifications of its staff, research and develop plans to expand training codes, prioritize the assignment of enrollment targets, train and retrain teachers at all levels, and expand international training cooperation.
