Tu Pagoda summarizes Buddhist activities, gives Tet gifts to the poor

(Baonghean.vn) - At the ceremony to summarize Buddhist activities in 2019, Tu Pagoda in Nghi Phong commune, Nghi Loc district presented 27 gifts to the poor and the visually impaired.

Delegates and monks performed the incense offering ceremony to worship Buddha at the ceremony.

On January 9, Tu Pagoda held a ceremony to summarize Buddhist activities in 2019. Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Mr. Luu Cong Vinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs, Head of the Provincial Religious Committee, representatives of provincial departments and agencies, and Nghi Loc district.

Tu Pagoda is an ancient temple built by the people of Dai Xa commune (now Nghi Phong commune) a long time ago. Over time and war, the pagoda was damaged, leaving only traces of the yard. In June 2012, the Provincial People's Committee issued a decision approving the restoration of Tu Pagoda, then in July 2019, the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha elected and appointed Venerable Thich Tho Lac to be the abbot here.

Nghi Loc District leaders awarded certificates of merit to the collective and individuals of the Tu Pagoda maintenance board.

Under the guidance of Venerable Thich Tho Lac, with the attention and support of the church, authorities at all levels, socio-political organizations, local people, and Buddhists, Buddhist activities at Tu Pagoda continue to be maintained, strengthened, and achieved remarkable results.

The pagoda regularly organizes religious activities with the participation of many Buddhists inside and outside the district. In addition to the major Buddhist holidays that are solemnly held, the pagoda also organizes prayer ceremonies and lights candles to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at the Nghi Loc district cemetery, the Vietnam - Laos international cemetery (Anh Son), Truong Bon (Do Luong) ...

Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac, Head of the Cultural Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Deputy of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Abbot of Tu Pagoda, presented Tet gifts to representatives of the Association for the Blind.

During the process of practicing and guiding, despite many difficulties, the pagoda has organized charity and humanitarian activities, giving many gifts to families with preferential policies, families in difficult circumstances, and the blind association... Last year, the pagoda built 2 gratitude houses for poor families in the district, and coordinated with Dai Tue pagoda to organize a charity program in Tuong Duong with a budget of 250 million VND...

At the ceremony, delegates, monks and Buddhists heard a report on Buddhist activities in 2019 and the direction of activities in 2020 of the pagoda. Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, expressed his hope that Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac and Buddhists would continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, overcome difficulties, build Tu Pagoda and build the increasingly developed Dharma center.

On the occasion of the closing ceremony, Nghi Loc District People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to the Tu Pagoda Board of Trustees and individuals in the Board of Trustees for their outstanding achievements in coordinating state management and humanitarian charity. On this occasion, Tu Pagoda also presented 27 Tet gifts, of which 1 gift was given to the Provincial Blind Association and 26 gifts were given to the poor in Nghi Phong commune.
