According to a survey, in the markets, the current price of each bunch of bananas for Tet offerings ranges from 60,000 to 300,000 VND, depending on the number of fruits. "However, most of the beautiful bunches are immediately bought by buyers. For about a week now, I have sold about 50-70 bunches a day, and my husband sells even more at a nearby market. In a few days, the price of bananas may not increase, but finding beautiful bunches will be more difficult," said Ms. Hoa, a banana seller at the gate of My Dinh market.

The stall owner also said that the price of bananas increased before December 23, however, it increased sharply from last Saturday because of the huge demand for bananas to display on the fruit tray.She also said that bananas are a commodity that every family needs, so at the beginning of December she placed orders with suppliers to have the most beautiful bunches to sell for Tet."Some regular customers even asked me to pick beautiful bunches half a month ago," said Ms. Hoa.

Besides bananas, the price of Buddha's hand has also increased 2-3 times. A medium-sized Buddha's hand, which Ms. Huong (Cau Giay) usually buys for about 40,000 VND, has now increased to about 100,000-120,000 VND. The larger ones cost up to 180,000-250,000 VND. Grapefruits with fresh branches and leaves to display on a beautiful fruit tray also cost from 60,000-150,000 VND per fruit.

In addition to the above items, some other types of fruit are often used to display the five-fruit tray on Tet holiday such as red pineapple, coconut, papaya are also sold in many markets and organic fruit stores. At some organic fruit stores, these items are often sold by the box, not individually.

Accordingly, red pineapples are sold for about 700,000-750,000 VND per box of 16 fruits (about 44,000 VND per fruit), young coconuts are 750,000 VND per box of 40 fruits, and green papayas are 700,000 VND per box of 20kg (about 35,000 VND per kg).Meanwhile, at the markets, each red pineapple is sold at retail price of about 50,000-80,000 VND, young coconut 25,000-35,000 VND each./.
