Adding the name of the leader of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and his doctrine for the future development of the country to the charter of the Communist Party of China has strengthened the political stance of the Chinese President and raised his level to the level of Mao Zedong, according to experts interviewed by Sputnik.

According to Aleksandr Gabuev, director of the Carnegie Center's Russia in the Asia-Pacific program, it is a very important symbolic step to strengthen Xi's position within the party - the next stage of his progression into the ranks of strong leaders like Mao Zedong, along with the fact that Xi Jinping has been honored as the party's core for the second year in a row.

In turn, Deputy Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexandr Lukin said that the decision of the Chinese Communist Party Congress showed that Xi Jinping's power is so strong that people put him on par with Mao Zedong.

"In general, he strongly consolidated his power before the Congress. He concentrated almost all political lines in his own hands. Therefore, it can be said that this case is approaching the phenomenon of a cult of personality, but, in fact, he did not bring anything new in terms of political ideology," - Lukin commented.

Experts believe Xi Jinping could remain president for more than the prescribed two terms.
