Military expert warns of “NATO nightmare” because of Russian tanks
In the event of a Third World War, the Russian army would be able to crush NATO forces in Europe in a short time, according to military expert Petri Mäkelä, who regularly analyzes the warfare techniques used in Russia and Scandinavia, which he shared with the Daily Star.

The expert particularly emphasized the Russian tank force, which he said was superior to that of NATO countries.
Mr. Mäkelä noted that Russia's tank units are very diverse, and although some models were designed and built during the Soviet era, they still pose a great threat to the enemy.
He believes that because there is no military parity, Russian forces could easily defeat NATO troops in the event of World War III.
"Russia's tactic is to concentrate overwhelming forces on the main line, so the relatively small Western tank armies will have difficulty resisting," - Mr. Mäkelä commented.
According to him, the Russian army has much stronger firepower potential than the armies of the alliance in Europe. In modern warfare, more modern Western tanks would be attacked by numerically superior Russian units, with large-scale support from artillery and missile forces, positions where Western countries have little chance.
He added that the scenario of the development of the Russian tank attack as described above would become a "nightmare" for the coalition forces, as they do not have the necessary means to repel such a powerful blow.
Specifically, Mr. Mäkelä noted the lack of artillery, as well as NATO's small troop presence in Europe. However, he added that the West is aware of its weaknesses and is taking measures to "form stronger forces in the region"./.
