Military expert talks about Russian intercontinental aircraft for 'Judgment Day'
Russia's Tu-160 intercontinental supersonic aircraft can carry up to 12 cruise ballistic missiles, military expert Alexei Sukonkin said in a conversation with Russian media. He said the plane was loaded with missiles for "Judgment Day".

Russia's Tu-160 intercontinental supersonic aircraft can carry up to 12 cruise ballistic missiles - its capacity is comparable to that of a nuclear submarine, military expert Alexei Sukonkin said.
“A nuclear missile cruiser typically has 16 missiles, each with three warheads. If the Tu-160 is fully loaded in Doomsday configuration, it is a monster,” said Alexei Sukonkin.
Currently, along with the Tu-95, the supersonic intercontinental aircraft Tu-160 is a strategic missile carrier and is used to launch cruise missiles, not as a bomber. Mr. Sukonkin added that the aircraft is constantly being improved and equipped with more modern equipment.
Several years ago, Russia had the idea of creating a domestic supersonic passenger aircraft. For example, it could be built on the basis of the Tu-160, as President Vladimir Putin suggested in 2018. The United Corporation has begun work on the aircraft project, but so far has not been able to build such an aircraft.
