(Baonghean.vn) - "Driving is putting one foot on the line between life and death for yourself and others" - this is the opinion of many driving instructors.

The influence of teachers

“Before learning to drive a car, I was a pretty reckless motorbike rider. To be more precise, my awareness of obeying traffic safety regulations was not high. But afterlearn to drive, from the lessons I learned from my driving instructor, I have changed, become more serious, more calm when participating in traffic" - Mr. Tran Van Dung shared.

Agreeing with Mr. Dung, Ms. Nguyen Nguyen Ngoc said: “Before learning to drive a car, I was quite subjective when participating in traffic. It was the driving instructor who pointed out to me the dangers that could occur on the road and gave me lessons on traffic culture. From obeying the law to being ready to give way, calmly handling situations…”.

From the sharing and respectful introductions of former students, I had the opportunity to listen to the stories of the profession of responsible and dedicated driving instructors. In order to train quality students, these teachers also have many things in common.

“Regardless of the number of students, I always classify students into different groups such as those who learn quickly, those who are often under psychological pressure, those who like challenges, etc. Based on those characteristics, I choose the appropriate way to teach and create a separate lesson plan. The common point in the lesson plans of each group is a calm and patient attitude when teaching in all situations,” said Mr. Ho Minh Dien (PTS Driving Training and Testing Center, Vinh City), who has 16 years of experience in the profession.

With 15 years of experience in the profession, using the psychological “pulse” method, teacher Nguyen Thanh Trung (Vietnam - Germany Technical College, Vinh City) shared: “The more stressed the teacher is, the more pressure the students have, and the more pressure the harder it is to absorb. Therefore, I always try to create the most friendly, open and comfortable environment for all students.”

Although comfortable and gentle with students, both Mr. Dien and Mr. Trung have principles and discipline in their profession: Students must comply with all traffic safety regulations, no matter who they are or where they are.

“Unlike other professions or fields, driving is related to human life so it is necessary toreal study, real test, the results are real. Moreover, traffic awareness needs to be trained into an hourly, daily habit. If we only aim for a driver's license without paying attention to traffic safety, the consequences and consequences later will be terrible," Mr. Dien added.

Not only imparting skills, knowledge, and awareness, driving instructors can also contribute significantly to building a culture of civilized traffic participation. Recounting a story he experienced more than a year ago, teacher Nguyen Thanh Trung shared: “When my students and I were driving normally on the road, we heard a loud noise from behind. We pulled over to the side of the road and got out of the car, only to find out that a mother and her child were riding a motorbike, rushing out of the alley, not paying attention and crashing into our car. Although it was their fault, we took them to get a health check in time and came back to visit them the next day. I hope my students in particular and all traffic participants will maintain that kindness in all situations.”

Heart-stopping lessons

“It happened nearly 10 years ago, but I still remember the situation clearly. At that time, a student was driving, I was sitting next to him and the other two students were sitting behind. While moving normally on the road, the student driving suddenly stopped, right in the middle of the bridge.

Because of the sudden stop, all members of the car fell forward. Even more dangerous, there were many vehicles behind the car. Luckily, the passenger car right behind us braked in time, avoiding a collision in a split second, when the distance between the two cars was very close. Turning to ask the student why he stopped the car like that, he answered, he stopped the car to drop coins on the bridge for luck..." - teacher Ho Minh Dien recounted.

Mr. Dien’s story is just one of countless dangerous situations that driving instructors have encountered. There are students who mistakenly step on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal when in a crowded place, there are students who “say one thing and do another”, there are students who “recklessly” cross the street even though the opposite lane is full of cars… Sitting in the car of people who do not know how to drive, accepting the risks that may be encountered, it is not an exaggeration to say that driving instructors “teach with their lives”.

Dangerous situations happen continuously, which can lead to unpredictable consequences in a split second, making driving instructors always seem to be in a state of tension, heart-stopping, and ready to support students in handling them.

In addition to situations caused by students’ mistakes, there are also dangerous situations that are brought about by objective factors and that students themselves do not have enough skills to handle quickly. Once in the car, the teacher is responsible for ensuring the safety not only of his students but also of other road users around. Just a little carelessness and lack of concentration will cost a lot.

In addition to the dangers, driving instructors also have to accept many other problems related to “occupational diseases”. “From constant stress and irregular eating according to the students’ schedule, driving instructors often suffer from diseases related to the stomach and intestines. Because they sit in the car a lot, the risk of getting back pain, knee pain, and neck and shoulder pain is also higher. In addition, being in a noisy environment of cars for many years in a row also affects hearing, even leading to deafness,” said Mr. Dien.
