“In mid-2018, I received a notice from a policy officer to go to the commune to receive support money to build a house. I was sick so I had to ask my daughter-in-law to take me there. It was raining that day, the road was slippery and it was very difficult to travel. Some children in the neighborhood fell on their way to school, their clothes were dirty and they had to return home. Suddenly, I felt so much sympathy, pity for my poor hometown, pity for the children struggling to get to school, memories of my difficult childhood came flooding back, so I decided to use the support money to build the road.”
Born in Dien Chau but followed his parents to Tan Ky since he was very young, Mr. Hau always considered Nghia Hop a part of his life. Growing up in the army, the footsteps of soldier Dau Dinh Hau were imprinted everywhere.battlefieldLaos then returned to the Quang Tri battlefield, was awarded many noble medals and orders by the State.
In 1972, during a fierce battle, Mr. Hau was injured with a disability rate of 47% and decided to be discharged from the army after finishing treatment for his wounds. Returning to his family and hometown, despite his declining health and old wounds, Mr. Hau still worked hard on his fields, hills, rice, corn, potatoes, and cassava.

In 2018, the old house was dilapidated, his family decided to build a new house that was more solid and spacious. After finishing the house, the State supported 40 million VND under the program.policy objectMr. Hau did not hesitate to use this money to expand and upgrade the road ahead.
This road used to run along a steep hillside, and when it rained, it was muddy and slippery. Mr. Hau hired a bulldozer, cut a path about 5 meters wide and 60 meters long, lowered the roadbed, and then bought gravel to spread along the 200-meter stretch. After more than 10 days of construction, the project was completed at a total cost of 44 million VND. In addition to the 40 million VND he received to build his house, Mr. Hau also spent all of his monthly disability allowance to pay the contractor.

Thanks to that, traveling is easier and more convenient, because it is no longer steep and slippery. “Every morning when I see children happily cycling to school, I feel happy because I have done something useful. Now the road has been concreted, the village landscape is cleaner, more beautiful and spacious…” – Mr. Hau shared.
