Sam Thi Sen was born into a family with very tragic circumstances. In 2006, when she was 12 years old, her father passed away due to a serious illness. Her mother worked hard day and night to raise her. Loving her mother, she tried to study hard and passed the entrance exam to the Faculty of Mathematics Education, Vinh University. Because of her poor and difficult family circumstances, after school hours, she worked 2 to 3 shifts as a tutor to earn money to pay for her studies.
At the end of 2015, when I was in my fourth year of university, my beloved mother was diagnosed with a terrible cancer and passed away, leaving me alone in the world. When it seemed like everything had to be abandoned, I was called upon by the Chau Cuong Commune Red Cross, Quy Hop District Red Cross and the Provincial Red Cross for help from organizations and individuals so that I could continue to go to school and complete my university program.

Although it was very difficult to overcome the great pain of losing all her loved ones, with the care and sharing of the community, she stood firm and achieved very high results in her studies. As a high school student, Sen won the provincial excellent student award in mathematics and the Hoa Trang Nguyen award from the Ministry of Education and Training. In university, Sen was considered the 'leader' in studying for class 53A of Mathematics Pedagogy and an outstanding student of Vinh University.
In addition to receiving a scholarship from the school, Sen also received a scholarship from the national key program for mathematics development. Sam Thi Sen's efforts were recognized by her friends and teachers and she was honored to be admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam.
After graduating, Sen was specially accepted to work as a teacher at Chau Ly Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.
During her 4 years at university, Sam Thi Sen received maximum support from the Compassionate Bridge Program. Through this bridge, many kind-hearted people came to Sen, supporting her in both material and spiritual life. Sen confided that among her "benefactors", she especially thanks Ms. Pham Thi Hong Thai - Former President of the Nghe An Small and Medium Enterprises Association. "She is my second mother. In addition to sponsoring me throughout my university years, my mother has been running around, worrying about my job application, helping my dream of becoming a teacher come true," Sen confided.

The school where teacher Sam Thi Sen worked |
After working at Chau Ly Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, knowing about her situation, the school's Board of Directors and Trade Union prepared the best conditions for her.
Teacher Hoang Nghia Quang - Principal of the school said: "After receiving information that there was a special case that was specially allowed to come to school to teach, that is Sam Thi Sen, we created the best conditions. Because her house is about 20km away from the school, we arranged for her a dormitory room at the school, fully furnished like a small family to create favorable conditions for her to come to work. Hopefully, teacher Sen will promote her abilities, together with the school community to build the school to develop more and more".
