On July 13, Binh Duong Provincial People's Court sentenced Nguyen Triec Lam (35 years old, from Kien Giang) to 20 years in prison for murder.

According to the indictment, in April 2016, Lam lived as husband and wife with a 21-year-old girl (from Dong Thap) in a boarding house in Khanh Binh ward, Tan Uyen town. A few months later, Lam suspected that his girlfriend had another boyfriend, so the two often argued.

On the evening of January 24, after dinner, the two went upstairs to pack their things to go home for Tet. Seeing his girlfriend texting on her phone, Lam suspected that she was talking to her new boyfriend and became jealous. The two argued and got into a fight.

Angry, Lam took a knife and stabbed his lover many times before committing suicide. Both were taken to the emergency room by people in the same boarding house, but due to the severity of her injuries, the girl died./.
