On March 20, the Department Inspectorate (Department of Information and Communications of Lang Son province) coordinated with Lang Son Provincial Police to invite a 27-year-old female kindergarten teacher in Loc Binh district to work for posting false information on social networks.
On the evening of March 18, the female teacher posted the information: "Too fast, too dangerous. Now not only pork but also eel, fish, buffalo, beef, chicken are infected with tapeworm. What to eat now? Hunger strike!". This information is considered "untrue" by the authorities.
At the Department of Information and Communications Inspectorate, the female teacher admitted to writing the above information without verifying it. When notified by the authorities, she immediately removed the false information from social media. The female teacher pledged not to repeat the offense.
"Publishing false information on the Internet causes confusion among the public and can cause economic damage to the livestock industry and businesses in the province," said a representative of the Inspectorate of the Department of Information and Communications of Lang Son province.
Lang Son provincial authorities assessed the teacher's actions as impulsive and ignorant, so they issued a warning. If she continues to violate the law, she could be fined VND20 million, according to Article 64 of Decree No. 174/2013 on administrative sanctions in the fields of post, telecommunications, information technology and radio frequencies.
Also related to the act of spreading false information on social networks, on March 19, Thuan Thanh District Police, Bac Ninh detained Nguyen Ba Manh (32 years old, Ngu Thai Commune) to investigate the act ofIllegally providing or using information on computer networks or telecommunications networks, according to Article 288 of the Penal Code.
The police determined that Manh posted two photos of pork infected with tapeworms with the information: "Parents of Ngu Thai commune need to speak up, unexpectedly our commune also accepts tapeworm-infected meat...". The above information was determined to be untrue, causing confusion and anxiety among the people in the commune, potentially causing insecurity and disorder.
