Take advantage of opportunities for safe production.
In recent times, the complex developments of the Covid-19 pandemic have had a direct and strong impact on fisheries activities. The fisheries supply chain has been disrupted, transportation and consumption have been difficult, prices have fallen, and many fishing vessels have been forced to stay ashore due to labor shortages…
According to provincial statistics, the number of fishing vessels that ceased operations during the three months of July, August, and September alone was 43,200, resulting in a decrease of 186,000 tons in fishing output during these three months.
As of September 30th, the country had 71,913 fishing vessels, approximately 1 million workers directly employed on board, and only about 25% of these workers had been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Concluding the meeting, after hearing the opinions and discussions from the provinces, cities, and relevant units, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien stated: From now until the end of the year, although we will face difficulties such as high input material prices and localized labor shortages, we still have many advantages. The weather conditions are quite favorable; fishing vessels and equipment have been repaired and supplemented during the period of suspension due to the pandemic.
Under these circumstances, the fisheries sector strives to achieve its 2021 plan targets with a marine catch of approximately 3.657 million tons and export revenue of 3.6 billion USD.
Adaptive exploitation, ensuring disease prevention and control.
As of September 30, 2021, Nghe An province had 3,425 fishing vessels of all sizes; the total seafood catch reached 144,437 tons, an increase of 5.95% compared to 2020, with an estimated value of 2,920 billion VND; the number of people directly involved in fishing at sea was 17,253.
Along with several other factors, in the overall context, due to the impact of implementing Covid-19 prevention measures, the fisheries sector in Nghe An also faced many difficulties.

However, Nghe An province promptly directed localities and units to strengthen control over fishing vessels docking at ports, entering and leaving estuaries, and operating in sea areas, limiting the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on fishing activities and product consumption of fishermen. Production and value targets for the first nine months of the year were met and exceeded the set plan.
In the final months of the year, Nghe An province prioritizes adaptable, safe, and flexible fisheries exploitation, effectively controlling the Covid-19 pandemic to ensure maximum safety for workers and fishermen, and bringing the entire fisheries sector back to a new normal.
The target for the fourth quarter of 2021 is a total fisheries production of 40,000 tons, including 38,500 tons from marine fishing and 1,500 tons from inland fishing.
