(Baonghean.vn) - Implementing the movement 'Women join hands to build new countryside', Nam Dan Women's Union has planted flowers to beautify village roads and alleys.

As a commune registered to reach the new rural finish line in 2017, right from the beginning of the year, the Women's Union of Nam Linh commune registered to build a green - clean - beautiful village road to contribute to completing criterion number 8 on hygiene and environment; the Women's Union of hamlet 4 was chosen as the point to implement the movement.

Thanks to the extensive implementation and propaganda about the significance of forming flower roads, aiming to eliminate spontaneous roadside landfills, contributing to environmental protection, the activity has attracted not only women but also the participation of many people in the village.

Thanks to the selection of easy-to-grow flowers such as firecracker flowers, portulaca, zinnias, butterfly flowers, four-season flowers, purple evening flowers, etc., the plants grow quickly and do not require much care. In just a short time, Hamlet 4 has formed flower routes.

From the success of Hamlet 4, the model has spread to many hamlets in the whole commune. To effectively implement the model, each association has surveyed rural traffic routes, especially roads with lots of weeds and garbage dumps that spoil the beauty. In addition to planting flowers along the roads, the associations also plant them in cultural houses, creating beautiful scenery for the countryside and raising people's awareness of environmental protection.

Mr. Duong Cong Dong in Hamlet 8, Nam Linh Commune said: “Previously, there were many trees and grasses on both sides of the road, and cattle and livestock were let loose. Now, people in the hamlet join hands to weed, plant trees, and clean up everywhere. Now, looking at the clean and beautiful road like this, everyone is conscious of keeping the village roads and alleys clean.”

Currently, the Women's Union of Nam Linh commune is continuing to replicate in 13/13 hamlets. Along with the successful construction of the model of "planting flowers to beautify village roads and alleys", the Union also has many practical and effective activities contributing to the completion of the criteria for building a new rural area such as: 100% of families of cadres and members register to use clean water, pay sanitation fees; well implement the monthly environmental sanitation day, households making vermicelli, cakes, and raising livestock have well fulfilled their commitment to protect the environment.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung - President of the Women's Union of Nam Linh commune, the initial implementation was very difficult, but from the successful model of Hamlet 4, the beautiful roads and beautiful hamlets, the people became aware, every hamlet participated in planting flowers, contributing to protecting the common environment. Through the assessment of the province's new rural areas, the model of the Women's Union was highly appreciated, contributing to the successful completion of 19/19 criteria for building new rural areas."
