Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh's son elected to Da Nang People's Council
Mr. Nguyen Ba Canh, son of the late Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission and Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Nguyen Ba Thanh, was elected as a delegate to the Da Nang City People's Council with nearly 82% of the votes.
On the afternoon of May 24, the Da Nang City Election Committee announced the list of elected delegates to the 9th term of the City People's Council, 2016-2021. Da Nang had nearly 696,000 voters going to the polls, reaching a rate of 99.8%.

About 50 delegates were elected to the new Da Nang City People's Council. Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Huynh Duc Tho received the highest number of votes with 88.52%. Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Nguyen Xuan Anh received 84.03% of the votes. Mr. Nguyen Ba Canh (son of Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh) was elected with 81.52% of the voters' trust.
The youngest elected delegate was Ms. Le Thi Minh Thao (29 years old, Deputy Director of Thuan Phuoc Seafood and Trading Joint Stock Company). Among those who were not elected was Mr. Le Cong Phuc, who is known as'Expert' gives advice via Facebookwith a vote rate of only 32.4%.
According to the Da Nang Election Committee, according to regulations, the number of delegates elected to the Da Nang People's Council for the 2016-2021 term is 50 people. However, in constituency No. 4 including Thac Gian, Chinh Gian, and Vinh Trung wards, there are 5 delegates running to elect 3 people but only 2 delegates were elected. Therefore, the list has only 49 delegates to the City People's Council.
Explaining this, Mr. Tran Tho, Chairman of the People's Council and Chairman of the Election Committee of Da Nang City, said that the number of elected representatives in constituency number 4 was more than 2/3, according to the law, so the Da Nang Election Committee will not elect more but keep the original list of 49 people.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Canh is 33 years old this year, from Hoa Tien commune, Hoa Vang district (Da Nang), currently a member of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Da Nang City Youth Union. Mr. Canh graduated from Danang University of Technology, majoring in Economics; has a Master's degree in International Management, advanced political theory; English IELTS 6.5. |
