Announcement of 18 projects with potential to cause environmental pollution
A series of industrial projects with the risk of causing environmental pollution have been announced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh has just issued a directive on strengthening environmental protection in the industry and trade sector and announced a list of projects and factories considered to be at risk of causing environmental pollution.
Minister Tran Tuan Anh requested the General Department of Energy to coordinate with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to inspect and supervise the implementation of investment in thermal power projects and ensure the environment, review environmental construction items in accordance with the approved environmental impact assessment report.
For corporations and general companies under the Ministry, resolutely refuse to invest in projects with technology that potentially poses risks to the environment, gradually innovate and improve technology for existing factories to reduce emissions and improve the environment. Complete specialized departments for environmental protection at all levels, review existing environmental management regulations or develop internal environmental protection regulations. Install automatic environmental monitoring and surveillance systems, connect with local functional units according to regulations.

The head of the unit is responsible to the leaders of the Ministry, the Government and the people for organizing the full and serious implementation of the State's policies and laws on environmental protection in his/her field and unit.
For investors of coal-fired thermal power projects, the Minister requested the development and implementation of a process for disposing of ash and slag from the plant, ensuring that ash and slag are not released into the environment; and urgently complete negotiations and sign contracts for the consumption of ash and slag from thermal power projects in 2016.
