Details of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam Schedule have been announced.
The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has just issued Official Letter No. 1239/BGDĐT-QLCL, providing detailed guidance on organizing the 2025 High School Graduation Examination.
Accordingly, the exam will take place over two days, June 26th and 27th, 2025, with a specific exam schedule for two groups of candidates following the 2006 General Education Program and the 2018 General Education Program.
For candidates following the 2006 general education program.
Candidates following the 2006 General Education Program (issued under Decision No. 16/2006/QD-BGDĐT dated May 5, 2006 and Decision No. 50/2006/QD-BGDĐT dated November 7, 2006) will take the following subjects:
June 25, 2025:
Morning: Literature (120 minutes, essay writing)
Afternoon: Math (90 minutes, multiple choice)
June 26, 2025:
Morning: Combined Natural Sciences exam (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Social Sciences exam (History, Geography, Civic Education) (50 minutes/subject, multiple choice)
Afternoon: Foreign Language (60 minutes, multiple choice)
For candidates following the 2018 general education program.
Candidates following the 2018 general education program will take four subjects, including two compulsory subjects and two elective subjects:
June 26, 2025:
Morning: Literature (120 minutes, essay writing)
The Literature exam is in essay format, while the other subjects use multiple-choice questions with options to choose the correct answer, true/false, and short-answer questions.
Afternoon: Math (90 minutes, multiple choice)
June 27, 2025:
Morning: Two elective subjects (50 minutes/subject, multiple choice) from the following: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, History, Economic and Legal Education, Informatics, Technology, Foreign Language (English, Russian, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean)
Changes in the graduation scoring system.
The high school graduation exam scores for 2025 will be adjusted compared to previous years. The scoring formula includes:
50%: The average score of the four exam subjects.
50%: Average GPA from grades 10, 11, and 12.
Bonus points: If the candidate is eligible for bonus points.
Compared to before, the weighting of grades from academic transcripts has increased by 20%, aiming to comprehensively assess students' learning process and reduce exam pressure.
The 2025 exam will be the first year of implementing the 2018 General Education Program, with over 1.16 million candidates registered, an increase of approximately 100,000 compared to 2024. Of these, about 25,977 candidates taking the exam under the 2006 Program will be assigned to separate examination centers.
The exam results will be announced on July 16, 2025, one day earlier than in 2024.
The Ministry of Education and Training encourages candidates to prepare thoroughly, especially by familiarizing themselves with the structure of the published sample exam papers, and to ensure they are in good health and have a stable mental state before the exam.
The 2025 High School Graduation Examination is expected to be conducted safely, seriously, and fairly, creating favorable conditions for candidates to enter the next stage in their academic and career journey.
