When asked why she kept a large amount of money in a plastic bucket, Mrs. Bac said: This is the money her grandparents borrowed and the money her children sent home to prepare to build a house. Because the house above was degraded and about to collapse, it had to be reinforced, and there was no door to open and close, so she did not keep the money but put it in a plastic bucket in the kitchen, where her bed was. "This is the money my husband and I planned to build a house in the beginning of the 9th lunar month, so we did not deposit it in the bank," Mrs. Bac said.

Immediately after the fire, many local people advised her to write a report to the authorities and bring the burnt money of more than 26 million VND to the Agribank branch in Phong Thinh commune (Thanh Chuong) to exchange for good money.
