Self-proclaimed Donetsk Republic urges sanctions on Ukraine
(Baonghean.vn) - According to TASS, today, September 16, the leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, Denis Pushilin, said that Kiev's unwillingness to complete the Minsk agreements on resolving the Donbass crisis must be guaranteed by the parties to the agreement to impose sanctions.

In a statement posted on the website of the Donetsk News Agency, Mr. Pushilin asserted: “The statements of the new Ukrainian Foreign Minister that Kiev has no plans to amend the constitution to grant special status to Donbass do not surprise us… Ukrainian politicians, who have been declaring full compliance with the Minsk agreements for all these years, are trying to evade responsibility for not fulfilling their obligations.”
The Donetsk leader reiterated that the provisions on the special status of the region and non-prosecution of individuals involved in the events in Donbass were confirmed in the Minsk agreements, which were supported by a legally binding resolution of the UN Security Council.
“Any changes or amendments to the Minsk agreements are impossible. If the international community and the guarantors of the Minsk agreements are impartial, then at least Germany and France should impose sanctions on Ukraine for violating the agreements and for not fulfilling the commitments and public statements made by their officials,” Pushilin stressed.
On September 14, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadim Pristaiko said that Kiev would not amend the Constitution to include provisions granting special status to Donbass. He also stated that there would be no amnesty for those involved in the Ukrainian conflict, despite this being enshrined in the Minsk peace agreements. Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Contact Group, Leonid Kuchma, made a similar statement, stressing that President Vladimir Zelensky would not grant special status to Donbass.
Commenting on Kuchma's remarks, Russian envoy to the Contact Group Boris Gryzlov noted that any decisions or steps taken by Kiev and Donbass must be in line with the Minsk agreements, stressing that such statements are a direct violation of the agreements and thus threaten to derail the entire peace process. He said that this move is aimed at stirring up tensions in Donbass, instead of achieving peace as promised to Ukrainian voters.
