Nghe An industry grows strongly thanks to investment attraction

(Baonghean) - A shipment of 12,000 tons of finished corrugated iron products produced by Hoa Sen Group at Hoa Sen Corrugated Iron Factory in Dong Hoi Industrial Park, Hoang Mai town departed from PTSC Thanh Hoa port on May 30, 2017 to arrive in 3 countries: France, Belgium, Spain, demonstrating a breakthrough in the export activities of the Group in particular and the Vietnamese corrugated iron and steel industry in general.

This is not the first export source of Hoa Sen Group, but the first shipment from Nghe An to a demanding market like Europe.

Commenting on this event, Mr. Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: Hoa Sen Steel Factory in Dong Hoi Industrial Park has just started production since June 2016 and after 1 year has exported products. This is a typical result of Nghe An province's investment attraction work in recent years. This project also demonstrates the investor's enthusiasm in quickly implementing administrative procedures, site clearance progress and construction investment, all completed within 1 year. During that process, provincial leaders, departments, branches and localities in Nghe An have actively accompanied enterprises to soon operate the factory, solve employment problems and create high-value products.

From the perspective of regional linkage, according to Mr. Le Anh Tuan - Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Hoa Sen Group's production in the North of Nghe An province and export at Thanh Hoa port marks the realization of the linkage policy in economic development of the South Thanh - North Nghe region.

The shipment of Hoa Sen Group along with many large factories in Nghe An put into operation such as: Song Lam Cement Factory selling bulk cement and packaging at Nghi Thiet Cement Grinding Station, Vinatex Hoang Mai Garment Factory, MDF Wood Processing Factory (Nghia Dan) ... has increased the industrial production index in the area by 8.37% over the same period, of which: mining industry increased by 10.19%; processing and manufacturing industry increased by 7.77%; electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution industry increased by 18.25%; water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment activities increased by 14.03% over the same period last year...

That is a positive signal from many efforts to attract investment, urging projects to speed up construction and soon come into operation.

Along with the approved investment projects, after the meeting with investors at the beginning of the year, provincial leaders and sectors actively worked with many partners and potential investors such as: Vingroup Corporation; Hemaraj Group, FLC Group...

At the same time, the work of supporting and developing enterprises is promoted on the basis of strengthening administrative reform, improving the quality of public services, supporting and removing difficulties for enterprises. The Provincial People's Committee issued an action program to implement Resolution No. 35/NQ-CP of the Government on supporting and developing enterprises, Resolution No. 19-2017/NQ-CP of the Government on improving the business environment, enhancing national competitiveness. Every month, maintain regular meetings with representatives of business associations and entrepreneurs to listen to and resolve difficulties and problems, creating conditions for enterprises to operate effectively.

To continue effectively implementing the investment promotion plan in 2017, according to Mr. Nguyen Van Nam - Deputy Director of Nghe An Investment Promotion and Support Center, the province advocates promoting foreign affairs; continuing to consolidate and enhance cooperation with traditional partners; promoting the establishment of cooperative relations with new partners. Focusing on key projects and partners such as Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand...

Continue solutions to mobilize ODA funding, synchronously and effectively implement solutions to promote ODA disbursement associated with ensuring counterpart capital for ODA projects. Promote attraction and improve the quality of foreign direct investment (FDI) projects. The goal is to diversify forms of capital mobilization and investment forms; promote cooperation in the form of public-private partnership (PPP) and investment forms that do not use state capital to maximize investment resources for socio-economic development. In that process, Nghe An Investment Promotion and Support Center closely coordinates with departments, branches, heads of units to proactively connect and serve the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee to work with partners and investors to survey and learn about the investment environment in Nghe An.

Of the 81 newly licensed investment projects in Nghe An, classified by location: Investment outside the economic zone and industrial parks: 70 projects/5,713.47 billion VND; Investment in the economic zone and industrial parks: 11 projects/4,474.43 billion VND; Classification by investment form: Domestic investment: Newly licensed for 77 projects/7,009.58 billion VND; FDI investment: Newly licensed for 4 projects/3,178.32 billion VND.

The province has also strengthened the inspection and supervision of projects. To date, the total number of projects revoked and terminated is 116, accounting for 31.8% of the total number of projects inspected from 2012 to present.
