(Baonghean.vn) - Yokohama FC has just officially announced the acquisition of striker Nguyen Cong Phuong from Vietnam, with a contract as a free transfer.

Striker Nguyen Cong Phuong officially left HAGL Club after the 2022 season. His new destination is Yokohama FC, the team that finished 2nd in J.League 2022 and won the right to compete in J.League 1 in the 2023 season. The striker born in 1995 signed a 3-year contract with Yokohama FC, Yokohama Club wrote on the team's homepage.

"We are pleased to announce that striker Nguyen Cong Phuong has officially joined the team on a free transfer from Vietnam's HAGL Club."

For his part, Cong Phuong shared: "I am very happy to join Yokohama FC. This is the beginning of a new chapter for me. New tournament, new teammates and new challenges.

I am ready for my new life in Japan. I will always do my best for Yokohama FC. Please support me in the upcoming seasons. I look forward to meeting the fans of the team."

The value of the contract between Cong Phuong and Yokohama FC is kept confidential by both parties. The Vietnamese striker signed a 2-year contract, starting from the 2023 season.

This is the fourth time Cong Phuong has gone abroad. Previously, he played for Mito HollyHock (2016), Incheon United (2019), and Sint-Truidense Club (2019) on loan, but all were unsuccessful.

It is known that the 27-year-old striker will bring his whole family to live in Japan. CP10 is very confident and determined to make his mark at Yokohama FC.

After nearly 15 years with the Mountain City team, Cong Phuong was allowed by Mr. Duc to leave HAGL.

Yokohama is the team that borrowed midfielder Tuan Anh from HA Gia Lai in 2016. In the 2022 season, Yokohama won the runner-up position, winning a ticket to play in J-League 1 in 2023, the highest tournament in Japan. This team's purchase of Cong Phuong is not outside the purpose of strengthening the attack.

Thus, after Van Toan confirmed his future in Korea, Cong Phuong also returned to Japan to compete. HAGL will say goodbye to a series of key players after the 2022 season ends.
