Cong Phuong started, Incheon still lost to the team playing in K League 2
Given the opportunity to play in the starting lineup by coach Andersen, Cong Phuong was unable to shine, and his Incheon team lost to an opponent playing in K League 2.
During the time when the club tournaments were on hiatus to make way for the national team matches, Incheon played a friendly match against Ansan Greeners on the afternoon of March 23. This was a more competitive match than the previous friendly matches that Incheon played against university teams.
In this match, coach Jorn Andersen trusted and gave striker Cong Phuong a starting position. This is considered a very good opportunity for the Vietnamese national team striker to prove his ability and increase his chances of finding a starting position in the upcoming K League 1 matches.
Although still playing very aggressively, Cong Phuong seems unable to fully integrate into Incheon's playing style. Especially against a "tough" opponent likeAnsan Greeners, Cong Phuong could not score or assist like in previous friendly matches.
Even Cong Phuong's teammates in Incheon could not show their superiority. The first half of the match was quite open with many opportunities created by both sides, but no goals were scored.
In the second half,Ansan Greeners unexpectedly scored two consecutive goals. Incheon proactively increased the speed of the match when they were behind, but it was not until the 86th minute that they were able to score an equalizer.
However, by the end of the match, Ansan Greeners scored another goal. This friendly match ended with a 3-1 victory for the team playing in K League 2.
On March 31, Incheon will play a match in the 4th round of K League 1 against Suwon Bluewing. In the previous 3 matches, Incheon won 4 points and is in the middle of the rankings. Many Vietnamese fans hope that, with the efforts in the past time, Cong Phuong will be given the opportunity to play again by Coach Andersen to contribute more to the team.
