Speaking to Goal ahead of the 2019 season, striker Nguyen Cong Phuong affirmed that he will strive to prove his talent in Korea.

Since moving to Incheon United on a 1-year loan from HAGL, striker Nguyen Cong Phuong has shown that he has quickly integrated into the Korean team. Accordingly, in two friendly matches of Incheon United before the 2019 season, Cong Phuong had 1 goal and 1 assist.

Domestic experts and fans believe that the HAGL striker has a great chance to be given a chance to play in the opening match of K.League 2019 against Jeju United on March 2.

Ahead of the new season, speaking to Goal, Cong Phuong expressed his thanks for the support that Korean and Vietnamese fans have given him over the past time: "I have been here for half a month. Everyone has been waiting and supporting me over the past time."

Cong Phuong said he will cherish every opportunity to play on the field to show his talent in Korea: “I will try my best to show my talent in Korea and leave a mark in this country. If I get to play, I will try to take advantage of the opportunity. If I score or assist, that is a great thing for me. I hope everyone will always follow and support me.”

The striker born in 1995 from Nghe An also pointed out the huge differences between Vietnamese and Korean football. Cong Phuong highly appreciated the physical strength and speed in matches at K.League: “I think that Vietnamese and Korean football have different points. I think in Korea, the players play stronger with higher intensity.”

Along with that, Cong Phuong also assessed that the living conditions in Korea are better than in Vietnam and that the players are comfortable and have private space after training sessions, which also greatly affects their competitive spirit: “Regarding living conditions, I think that in Korea the conditions are better than in Vietnam. After training sessions, Korean players are allowed to freely live outside. In Vietnam, after training, the players live together in the team. I think that is also a good thing, but it cannot help the players' spirit to be comfortable. Because after training, the players also need private space. I think that Vietnamese clubs should learn from clubs in Korea.”

After many years of fighting in V.League 2019, Cong Phuong and his teammates at HAGL often had to face injuries due to the quality of the pitches of the clubs. Therefore, in his speech, the striker from Nghe An advised domestic teams to improve the quality of the pitches to improve the quality of the matches in V.League: "Football fields in Korea are also of better quality, especially the pitches are quite suitable. In Vietnam, clubs should improve the pitches to create conditions for Vietnamese players to develop further."

Meanwhile, sharing about his goal in the Incheon United shirt in the 2019 season, Cong Phuong emphasized that winning with his home club is more important than any personal achievements: “I think scoring goals is not too important to me. If I get on the field, I just want to do my best and maintain my confidence. When the team wins, it means that I also contributed a part. The team winning is more important than my personal achievements.”

The match between Incheon United and Jeju United will take place at 12:00 on March 2.
