'Green park' in the heart of Ban Ve Hydropower Plant
(Baonghean.vn) - Although it is a hydroelectric project with a system of turbines, transmission stations and giant machines, Ban Ve Hydroelectric Plant does not lack green spaces of trees, flowers and ornamental plants blooming all four seasons.
Green space
One day in early 2024, in the chilly atmosphere of the mountains and forests of Western Nghe An, we had the opportunity to visit the Ban Ve Hydropower Plant. Although we have been here many times, each time gives us a very unique feeling about this hydropower project located in the upper Lam River.
Taking us on a tour of the factory, engineer Nguyen Tien Giap - Head of the Operation Workshop Union, like a tour guide, introduced us to an overview of the factory's production and operation areas. In particular, when entering the factory grounds, a green space with many carefully tended flowers and ornamental plants blooming fragrantly, made us feel like we were entering a park. Few people know that this area and landscape are being cared for by the hands and efforts of the factory's electrical engineers, who seem to be only familiar with buttons, the power grid, the ups and downs of kwh indicators, and even grease stains.

Engineer Nguyen Tien Giap shared: Over the years, under the direction of the Company, the direct production departments at the factory have always been actively interested in building a landscape, a green, clean, beautiful, safe and friendly working environment. Each officer, worker, and union member in the company is always aware that only by building a clean, beautiful and safe landscape environment can we create the best working environment for officers, workers and employees, contributing to improving and increasing labor productivity, improving production and business efficiency of the entire company.

At Ban Ve Hydropower Plant, in addition to the factory grounds planted with many flowers and ornamental plants, creating a cool green space, in the workshop area, the empty areas have also been used by staff and workers to plant many types of flowers such as orchids, Sa Pa old roses, bougainvillea. In particular, in the operating workshop area, the engineers themselves built a Japanese-style garden with a fish pond and bonsai trees. This is the area where each staff and worker can relax and regain balance after stressful working hours.

Engineer Le Dinh Dung - working at the operation workshop, Ban Ve Hydropower Plant said: Since 2016, when the company launched a movement to build a green, clean and beautiful campus and landscape, we have taken advantage of vacant land in the campus to build fish ponds and grow bonsai trees. "At first, because we were afraid that the climate in this area was not suitable, we only released a few fish, but then we realized that these ornamental fish grew and developed stably, so we bought more fish to release, and now there are dozens of fish. Thanks to good care, the fish grow quickly, with many eye-catching colors, everyone wants to come and see them after stressful working hours" - Engineer Le Dinh Dung added.

The characteristic of the staff and workers at the Ban Ve Hydropower Plant area is that they work in shifts, taking turns working at the factory and at the company headquarters in Vinh City. These two locations are hundreds of kilometers apart, so the engineers often have to take turns taking care of the fish and the flowers and bonsai trees in the campus. Without anyone telling them, everyone is self-conscious. When they go to the factory, in addition to their professional duties, they join hands to take care of the campus of their workshop. Many people also jokingly say that from the initial electrical engineers and automation engineers when recruited to the company, everyone now has the qualities to become an agricultural engineer, when they can diagnose fish diseases, make orchids bloom in season and roses not be damaged by pests.

Many people say that people in the electricity industry are dry and unromantic, but like everyone else, we love beauty, love green spaces, and love to watch flowers blooming in the dawn light. Every time like that, we feel more comfortable before going to work…

Create a widespread emulation movement
Over the years, Ban Ve Hydropower Company has always identified the renovation and construction of a green - clean - beautiful environment for agencies and units as one of the important criteria in building a cultural lifestyle, directly contributing to improving the quality and efficiency of production and business.
In addition to proactively building green, clean and beautiful spaces in production areas as well as administrative areas. Recently, responding to the "Green - Clean - Beautiful - Safe" contest at the workplace organized by Power Generation Corporation 1, Ban Ve Hydropower Company also launched it throughout the company. Mobilizing staff, workers and employees in the company to actively participate and create a vibrant and widely spread emulation movement.

Mr. Hoang Van Ngoc - Deputy Director of Ban Ve Hydropower Company said: With the goal of building a landscape, a green, clean, beautiful, safe, friendly working environment, creating the best working environment for officers, employees, and workers. Contributing to improving and enhancing labor productivity, while promoting the proactive, creative, and enthusiastic spirit of emulation of officers, employees, and workers in the movement to build a green, clean, beautiful, and safe unit.
Mr. Ngoc also said: We have issued evaluation criteria on Green - Clean - Beautiful - Safe for departments and workshops to implement. Thereby, aiming to change the awareness and actions of officers, employees and workers in the company in building campuses and working areas. From there, raise awareness and responsibility in implementing civilized and environmentally friendly behaviors and ensuring the aesthetics of the workplace.

In addition to improving production and operation efficiency, ensuring water regulation for the Ca River basin, and at the same time producing electricity for socio-economic development, having a green, clean, beautiful and safe working space is not simple. That requires attention and efforts from leaders at all levels and each employee. "We determine that competitions and emulation movements will eventually end, but the important thing is that after each competition, officers and employees are aware of the importance of building a Green - Clean - Beautiful - Safe working environment. Only then can we bring production efficiency to the company and practical benefits to ourselves" - Mr. Ngoc emphasized.
