Crimea calls UN meeting 'clowns meeting'
(Baonghean.vn) - Alexander Molokhov - head of the group on international law issues, representative of Crimea, called the informal meeting of the United Nations Security Council on the Crimea issue "an event of clowns meeting each other". This informal meeting was convened by Western countries, led by the United States.

It was previously reported that European members of the United Nations Security Council and the United States will hold an informal meeting on the Crimea issue on March 12.
On the Russian side, Russia's Deputy Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky said that the country will call for an informal meeting of the United Nations Security Council on the Crimea issue on March 17, with the participation of the leadership of the Crimean Peninsula.
Mr. Polyansky also said that Ukraine and Western countries have long used the anniversary of Crimea's annexation to Russia as an excuse to criticize and accuse Russia of human rights violations in Crimea, reminding the West of not recognizing Russia's "occupation", as well as spreading a series of other fake news about the Crimea peninsula in the media.
Crimea became part of Russia after a referendum in March 2014, with 96.77% of Crimean voters and 95.6% of Sevastopol residents agreeing to join Russia.
Kiev still considers Crimea to be part of Ukraine, which is currently temporarily occupied. The Russian government has repeatedly stated that the people of the peninsula have chosen the path of democracy, in accordance with international law. Russian President Putin has declared that the Crimea issue is "finally closed"./.
