(Baonghean.vn) - That is the situation of Mrs. Pham Thi Nham (85 years old), residing in Hamlet 10, Dien Yen Commune, Dien Chau District (Nghe An).

In a two-room house about 15m wide2cramped, hot, is the shelter of 6 people including Mrs. Nham, her daughter, Ms. Le Thi Huong (40 years old) and Ms. Huong's 4 children.

Mrs. Nham's family is poor. She is 85 years old this year but her life is still miserable. Despite her old age and weak health, she is still the main breadwinner of the family.

She gave birth to two children (one boy, one girl), but the eldest son drank all day long, could not do anything, sometimes even beat her and chased her away.

Her second child, Le Thi Huong (40 years old), was not as agile as a normal person since childhood, and her health was weak, so she was often sick. When she reached adulthood, she felt sorry for her mother's hardships, so Huong went to Dong Nai to work as a factory worker and accepted to live with an unmarried man in a foreign land, and then gave birth to 4 children.

But ironically, the children she gave birth to were constantly sick and not as smart as other normal children.

The eldest son (12 years old) was born with many illnesses, he had diaphragmatic degeneration, blood infection, and fecal incontinence. After that, his family had to take him to the hospital to have surgery on his side so he could go to the toilet. Now he is in 6th grade but he is small, pale, and weak.

The children were still young, because of lack of food and drink, so they were all malnourished and often sick.

Living in a foreign land, without any relatives, raising four children alone was too much for Ms. Huong. With no other way to go, she took her four children to live with her mother in her small house.

Ms. Huong was not in good health so she could not work for hire and could only stay at home with her children. Mrs. Nham, despite her old age and poor health, still bent her back every day to catch crabs and snails to sell to earn money to exchange for rice to feed her children and grandchildren.

The pitiful situation of Mrs. Nham and her children and grandchildren really needs the sharing and help of kind hearts.
