Tan Ky voters propose to consider solving the problem of pesticide residue at Song Con farm
((Baonghean.vn) - Voters of Tan Phu commune, Tan Ky district requested the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to consider resolving the problem of residual pesticides in the former Song Con Farm warehouses that have affected people's lives. At the same time, measures should be taken to manage the types of herbicides currently sold in the area.
The relevant authorities responded to this issue as follows:
a. Resolution process:
To solve the problem of pollution caused by residual pesticides, in 2014, with the support of the General Department of Environment through the POP-PESTICIDES project "Building capacity to eliminate residual POP pesticides in Vietnam", the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to coordinate with relevant units to excavate and hand over 80 tons of dangerously contaminated soil at the residual pesticide site in Tan Phu commune, Tan Ky district to the POP-PESTICIDES project. Thus, the heavily polluted area in the area has been treated.

By 2015, the remaining polluted area at the above-mentioned storage point was investigated, surveyed, and assessed by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment in coordination with a consulting unit to determine the scope and propose a treatment plan.
Currently, the consulting unit has determined the scope and level of residual pollution caused by pesticides in Tan Phu commune, Tan Ky district and has developed a treatment plan.
b. Solution:
The Provincial People's Committee has included the remaining points in the treatment roadmap and proposed funding support from the central budget according to the provisions of Decision No. 58/2008/QD-TTg dated April 29, 2008 of the Prime Minister on targeted funding support from the state budget to thoroughly treat, overcome pollution and minimize environmental degradation for a number of subjects in the public sector to mobilize sufficient resources to treat and restore environmental pollution at the points./.
