Cua Lo urgently repairs sea dykes to prepare for tourist season

Mr. Doan Van Lam - Head of the Management Board of Construction Investment Projects of Cua Lo town said that for a long time, the systemseawallThe section from Lan Chau Island to Cua Hoi junction has not been completely closed. Therefore, the 2020 storms with high tides of over 5m have completely and locally broken and damaged more than 1,000m of sea dyke, walking paths and green tree systems in this area; eroding deep inland, affecting the lives and properties of people and infrastructure along the coast of Cua Lo town. Of which, about 800m of sea dyke was severely damaged, many other locations were also eroded and subsided.
In preparation for the upcoming tourist season, kiosk owners are currently repairing their stalls and hope that the government will soon fix the problem so that businesses can reopen and recover from the pandemic and natural disasters.

Faced with this situation, the People's Committee of Cua Lo town has submitted a proposal to the People's Committee of Nghe An province for financial support to remedy the situation. However, according to the Law on Public Investment and current guiding documents, investment procedures must still comply with regulations and require time to complete the steps.
Therefore, to ensure timely business for the town in general and the people in particular in the 2021 tourist season, the Town Project Management Board has mobilized many different sources of capital to speed up the progress, focusing on repairing the embankment and walking path. It is expected to be completed before April 8, 2021, in time to serve tourists and coastal businesses," said Mr. Doan Van Lam - Head of the Cua Lo Town Project Management Board.

However, that is only a temporary solution. To ensure long-term safety, it is known that Cua Lo town is currently submitting to the province a plan to pour a permanent sea embankment with a budget of nearly 40 billion VND to beautify the landscape and urban coastal environment, meeting business needs and ensuring safety for residents and tourists./.
