The Traffic Police Department will supervise the entire process of auctioning car license plates.

The supervision of the automobile license plate auction is carried out at the Automobile License Plate Auction Management and Supervision Department located at the headquarters of the Traffic Police Department.

Major General Le Xuan Duc, Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security, said that the auction of car license plates is conducted entirely online.

Individuals or organizations wishing to participate in the auction must access the license plate auction page to register an account and choose the license plate they want. After successfully registering an account, people can search for the license plate they want to bid for by province, vehicle type and specific number series.

At the same time, according to the regulations, people who have or do not have a car are allowed to participate in the auction. The auctioneer can ask someone else to do the operation on his account but must ensure the correct information.

“The selection of car license plates to be auctioned is the selection of license plates from 63 localities nationwide. People have the right to choose the license plates offered on the license plate auction website provided by the auction company.

When winning the auction, people must bring the auction winning decision to their place of residence or temporary residence along with their citizen identification card to be able to register the vehicle in accordance with the law., Major General Le Xuan Duc said.

Vietnam Auction Joint Stock Company is the unit that conducts the auction. Professional forces under the Ministry of Public Security such as traffic police and cyber security will monitor the entire process.

Accordingly, the officers and soldiers on duty will monitor the entire progress of the auctions displayed on the operating screen including: plan number, session name, start time and end time, number of auction plates, leader in charge of the auction and auctioneer, number of participating customers, progress of the auction process...

Each customer has a unique code and customer information is kept absolutely confidential.

If any irregularities are detected, the supervisors will request a halt to the auction. When the auction winner has fulfilled his financial obligations, he will be issued a document confirming the winning license plate number along with the vehicle registration number.

For auctions that end according to regulations, the officer in charge will sign the online minutes (digital signature) along with other procedures such as: issuing notices to the auction winners, collecting money from the auction winners, issuing documents confirming the auction winning license plate...

The entire license plate auction process is conducted entirely online and successful bidders will receive the results at home. Unsuccessful bidders will have their deposits refunded 3 days after the end of the auction.

Major General Le Xuan Duc, Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security, added:“According to the law, the auction winner, when buying, selling, or transferring a vehicle, can keep the license plate for himself and register it for the next vehicle. That is the right that people expect the most and has been expressed in Resolution 73.

Within 12 months, people must register their vehicles and in case of force majeure, it can be extended by another 6 months. As for the buyers of those vehicles, if they have that license plate attached, they will not have the same rights as the auction winner.

According to the announcement of Vietnam Joint Stock Auction Company, there will be 11 car license plates of 10 provinces and cities (Bac Giang, Hanoi, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong) to be auctioned.
