The US Federal Reserve should have Facebook too
(Baonghean.vn)- The US Federal Reserve (FED) has just announced its Facebook page on Thursday - August 18. This is part of an effort to reach out more directly to the public.
Facebook users will now have the opportunity to “like” the US Federal Reserve on the social networking site, even though the institution’s standing has been measured by public opinion polls since the 2007-2009 economic downturn.
Many economists believe that the Fed played a key role in steering the United States out of the recession, while other agencies in Washington seemed to be in a deadlock.

But in 2014, Gallup released polling data showing that 38% of Americans surveyed said the Federal Reserve was doing a good or very good job; while 14% said the Fed was doing a poor job.
That means the Fed only kept the safety margin at 24%, about half the figure in 2003.
In its statement, the Fed said the Facebook page was created “to increase public access and demonstrate the Federal Reserve’s availability of up-to-date news and educational content.”
Posts on the Fed's Facebook page will include press releases, speeches, reports, educational materials, FAQs, photos and videos.
With the launch of the Facebook page, the Board will share information across platforms including Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, and LinkedIn.
However, the FED's main information channel is still the website: www.federalreserve.gov. Announcements selected to be shared on Facebook will still be posted first on this official website.
