The Director of the Department of Performing Arts has discussed with the Miss Vietnam contest organizers and requested strict handling of Ky Duyen's offensive actions.

On the evening of December 27, the Director of the Department of Performing Arts, Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong, said that he had given instructions and directly discussed with the representative of the Miss Vietnam pageant's organizing committee about the case of beauty Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen.

The representative of the state management agency in charge of licensing beauty contests in Vietnam confirmed that he had asked the Organizing Committee to promptly and strictly handle any violation of the contest rules by Miss Vietnam 2014. According to him, Ky Duyen was the beauty crowned at the Miss Vietnam contest, so the main responsibility lies with the Organizing Committee.

The image of Ky Duyen and her boyfriend blowing laughing gas at a coffee shop caused controversy.

Meanwhile, on the morning of December 27, the head of the Miss Vietnam organizing committee, Mr. Le Xuan Son, admitted that he was confused in handling the incident of Ky Duyen's inappropriate photos being leaked. According to him, in reality, Ky Duyen no longer holds the title of Miss, so the organizing committee's functions and powers over her are limited. However, he affirmed that the matter would be resolved as soon as possible.

“We need time to learn more about the regulations, as well as the management of beauty queens after their reign. Currently, we are still waiting for the regulations of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to consider the authority of the Miss Organizing Committee in cases that tarnish the image of the title, as well as the contest,” said Mr. Son.

Previously, on December 26, on social networks, images of Miss Ky Duyen and her boyfriend blowing laughing gas at a coffee shop in Ho Chi Minh City were spread. Blowing laughing gas is a trend that is considered unhealthy for young people, and even more unsuitable for the image of a national beauty representative.

Refusing to comment on the controversial image, Ky Duyen hinted on her personal page that an old acquaintance had played dirty tricks on her and intentionally harmed her. “No matter who you are or what job you do, you should live with a little bit of compassion, at least towards those who have treated you well,” she wrote.

Ky Duyen’s post attracted many comments from netizens. From there, runner-up Huyen My was dragged into the story. Many people spoke up that she was related to Ky Duyen’s scandal. Late in the evening of December 27, Huyen My made an announcement that she was not related to the online noise.

Runner-up Huyen My was also brought into the story related to Ky Duyen by netizens.

“I am very busy, I have a lot of work to do so I don’t have time and don’t care about unrelated things. Let’s go our separate ways, do our own thing, don’t drag me into other people’s stories,” she shared.

The runner-up was upset when many people criticized her for being hypocritical. “Just be moderate, my friend. When you learn to read and write, you should speak in a way that shows you are educated and grown up,” she replied to a comment.

This is Ky Duyen’s second scandal this year. Before her bad image due to using laughing gas, she caused controversy when photos of her smoking in public were leaked. In August, the pageant’s organizing committee had to issue a reprimand and not allow Ky Duyen to accompany the contestants in the Miss Vietnam 2016 pageant.

"Miss Vietnam 2014's term has ended, so handling the scandals related to her requires permission from the authorities," said the head of the beauty pageant's organizing committee./.
