On the morning of August 13, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, the Secretariat held a meeting with retired senior Party and State leaders in the Northern region to inform them of the domestic and international situation and the Party and State's leadership and direction in the fields of socio-economy, security, national defense and foreign affairs in recent times.

Attending the conference were former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, former Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Van An and nearly 150 delegates, including former members of the Politburo, Secretaries of the Party Central Committee, Vice Presidents, Deputy Prime Ministers, Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly; former members of the Party Central Committee, former Ministers and equivalents who have retired from Thua Thien - Hue and above.

At the conference, delegates listened to Mr. Dinh The Huynh report on the outstanding situation since the 12th Party Congress until now and the tasks from now until the end of the year.
