The battle between Mr. Duc and VFF: "Grasshoppers kicking cars"?

The reasons that Mr. Duc gave to oppose VFF and Mr. Tran Anh Tu are completely valid. Firstly, Mr. Doan Nguyen Duc is currently the "current" Vice President of VFF in charge of finance (his resignation was not approved by VFF). In theory, Mr. Duc has the right to know VFF's plans.

Second, Mr. Duc was nominated for the position of Vice President of VFF in charge of finance for the 8th term, according to the principle that the list of candidates must include his name. VFF not including Mr. Duc's name is a violation of the procedure and is not transparent.

Third, as the owner of HAGL Club, Mr. Duc has the right to oppose Mr. Tran Anh Tu's candidacy for the position of VFF Vice President in charge of finance. If elected (almost certainly), Mr. Tran Anh Tu will concurrently hold 4 different important positions at VPF and VFF: Chairman of the Board of Directors of VPF, General Director of VPF, Head of the V.League Executive Board and Vice President of VFF in charge of finance.

Thus, it is like Mr. Tran Anh Tu "both plays football and blows the whistle". Not to mention, work efficiency will be low because he takes on too many tasks.

However, Mr. Duc's strong reaction is unlikely to achieve the expected results. This is not the first time that the VFF's top brass has isolated Mr. Duc. Remember, after the U23 Vietnam team was eliminated early at the 29th SEA Games (August 2017), the VFF also avoided responsibility and blamed all the mistakes on coach Nguyen Huu Thang.

That action of VFF made public opinion extremely indignant. Everyone understood that VFF was less about attacking coach Nguyen Huu Thang, but more about attacking the reputation of Mr. Duc. Because Mr. Duc was the one who supported and convinced coach Nguyen Huu Thang to join the national team.

The “bad rice, bad soup” relationship between Mr. Duc and the rest of the VFF is too obvious. That is why, in the resounding victory of the Vietnam U23 team at the 2018 AFC U23 Championship, people saw Mr. Duc become much quieter, even though he was the one who contributed greatly to bringing coach Park Hang Seo to Vietnam.

Mr. Duc did not give a bonus as usual and did not attend the ceremony to honor the Vietnam U23 team. Unlike other members of the VFF, especially Mr. Nguyen Lan Trung (former VFF Vice President in charge of communications).

It's not that Mr. Duc is calm about the achievements of the Vietnam U23 team, it's simply that there are too many differences between him and the rest of the VFF. Simply put, Mr. Duc just feels lonely and lost in the group where he is the vice president.

All his dedication and hard work at VFF over the years, in the end, he only received indifferent and disrespectful treatment from his former and current colleagues.

Therefore, the recent action of VFF is the “last straw”. Mr. Duc could not remain silent any longer and had to protest so strongly. It is not known whether he will “give up football” or not?

But the possibility of VFF giving in (Mr. Tran Anh Tu does not hold the position of VFF Vice President in charge of finance) is almost unlikely. The battle between Mr. Duc and VFF is unequal. If he alone “fights alone” against a whole team, it is like “a grasshopper kicking a car”./.
